2025 Summer Transfer Rumors and Discussion Closed Window

Hard to think that would be replicable. Good chance we play Bayern next season, and they've got voodoo against us. We were a top team, no doubt, but our run was through PSV and RM. RM will be better next year and we might not get an amazing draw in the round of 16.
Bayern's "voodoo" against us 2 years ago was essentially a missed penalty call, Kiwior at LB, and Raya/Gabriel gifting them a goal. And that was our first year back in the CL with most of our squad not having any CL experience.

A healthy front line of Martinelli - Havertz - Saka is damn good. Would love to upgrade at ST/LW, but the available striker options aren't an upgrade on Havertz right now. With the prices being thrown around, I'd rather buy Ollie Watkins to rotate with Havertz and focus on bringing in a top winger to compete with Martinelli.

None of those players in that tweet move the needle for Manchester United
Mbeumo , Eze or Mateta won't move the needle ?

Presumably you aren't a Cunha fan either. Mbeumo and Cunha are 8th and 9th in goals per 90 respectively. Mateta is 12th

The United players on the current team don't make the top 30. So I don't think you can make that argument in good faith.

Eze would be great in Amorim’s 3-4-3. He’s been thriving in the 3-4-2-1 at Palace. But think that’s about it. More millions spent on mediocrity at Man U if these are the guys they’re linked with to turn the ship around.
I mean those guys won't turn United into league winners. But I feel like there's a long ways to go until league winners should be the goal.

I'd rather spend on this kind of mediocrity than big question marks from other leagues

I think it depends on what you mean by move the needle. Sure, those players are good players (and I wouldn't mind any as a rotational option at Arsenal). But right now Man United is a mid-table team. I don't think any of those players elevate a team from being midtable to being a European contender. Man United needs one or two players who raise their ceiling more so than players that raise their floor.

I'm not even sure why they would make the moves this summer considering Palace is in Europa and United has been in turmoil. Sure, money and a risk they get hurt or have an inferior next season, bur also a chance to make more if they have good showing in European competition.

Cunha is a selfish hothead who has always been mercurial, and managed to (for the first time in this career) piece together consistency this season. I have no reason to believe that that consistency will continue to be the case, and a lot of reason to believe that he is the kind of signing who will be a disaster at United. He was the biggest xG overperformer in the league this season, and also is the kinda player who needs everything to be built around him.

So I hope they spend 70m on him.

Eze would be a top signing for them, but I have no idea why he would leave Palace this summer.

Sancho sticking is entirely dependent on this. His United contract does not at all fit in with Chelsea's approach to wages over the last few years. If he can't come down, then it makes way more sense to toss the 5m to United. If he can come down, then he's a decent depth piece at the agreed price.

Diaz is being severely underrated here.
I wouldn't agree with severely, but I do agree he's being underrated. That said, he's not worth the rumored price for Barcelona, where he wouldn't be a starter, let alone the price rumored for Saudi Arabia. I guess FSG called up some of their private equity pals. :sarcasm:

All of that said, prices these days are absolutely wacky, so maybe he is worth it and I'm just stuck in 2022 (let alone 2012).

If he refuses to budge on the wages, then that would also show where his priorities are these days.
