If I recall correctly, the Huisjen release clause could be paid in installments, as well. I don't remember the currencies, but ~17M isn't exactly a huge hit to take, especially presuming that each installment can be amortized (although I'm not sure how that works within UEFA/La Liga rules, let alone accounting rules).

Philosophically I have no issue with Trent going asap but like LFC need to come away with something so they can have something to deter from the narrative that Madrid have something over them. It would already be weak that we couldn’t even get 1 million to let him go.

Whether that’s Rodrygo or Tchouameni or someone else that they are going to sell anyway, I don’t mind paying them because eventually you are going to have to do business with them, but we can’t do Madrid a favor

I think Madrid was such a mess on and off the pitch that there could be some players that had a down season that could be salvaged. I’d take Arda too but he and Szoboszlai hate each other so that’s going to be a non starter.

I never rated him anyway. Bad season or not I just don’t see anything special with him and he’ll likely command a 50+ fee. He’s basically Madrid Pedro.

But the headlines would be Brazilian international and Madrid star. Personally to me he’s a nothing burger.

Kinda hope NUFC can go after Trafford. Watched Burnley a decent amount last year and always liked him before i knew Newcastle was linked to him.

Sounds like he bid a fairwell to Burnley?

Why would they do that when they already have the best English goalkeeper?

I honestly dont know. But for some reason weve been looking for another goalkeeper for awhile. Think we were linked to Trafford last summer as well.

Is 33 old for a goalkeeper? (Popes age)

IIRC ive heard on the NUFC Athletic Podcast that Trafford fits the mold of what Howe wants in a keeper.
 
I also hope we can keep Harvey Barnes. Id rather keep him over Gordon. (rightfully or wrongfully)

Nico, cherki, Paz, laeo, Jesus, so many names out there for similar or cheaper price. But to go with Rodrygo is so woof. Hes really bang average.

I’d weep for anyone spending 50+ on him.

They can’t loan him out. Hes technically not their player anymore. If Madrid trigger his buy back clause then they’d be a let to sell him or loan him out again. As of now tho he’s como player. With cesc staying he might want to stay too

Marseille make Jonathan Rowe's loan from Norwich permanent for over 14 mil. He's played little for them this year, but made it count when he did.

Bologna make Nicolo Casale's loan from Lazio permanent for 6.5 mil. Mostly a sub this year for them.
