2025 Summer Transfer Rumors and Discussion Closed Window

I mean it would be stupid for Writz not to listen to all offers but I think he’s city bound.

Hell if your Liverpool as much as I rate Writz can you afford that price tag and have it not hit 100%? Best to go cost effective options.
I say this every year - if LFC's front office has made the conscious decision that 'there are only so few players on the planet that are good enough to play for us so its them or no one', then they can't keep letting those players go to other teams. And I like that we are picky, but every now and then the dam breaks.

If they learned anything from the Yoro transfer last summer, its to not take themselves out of the running just because of who else might be getting involved. Yoro was the only name on their list last year, and now am starting to wonder if Huijsen is the only name on their list this year. Might you this is a team that has not bought a defender since 2021, and Konate is nowhere near a contract extension.

But yeah WIrtz - if he gives any indication that he wants to play for LFC you have to at least throw a legit offer in

I think we should release him now because he's a prick, but again you can see why people boo him.
He should be booed because his new club asked for him to be released two weeks early so he can play in a competition instead of sitting around doing nothing?

Soft as shit.

Trent Alexander Arnold should be a study case on how horrible him/his advisor have handled is departure from the club.

I will use Arsenal as my example. Imagine Saka doing the media round right now and the whole summer about how playing for Arsenal is his dream, how captaining that team and become a one player club and legend is his dream. Then refusing all contracts extension from Arsenal, stating he wants to see how the direction go before commiting long term. (Fair his next contract is the most important of his career)

Then the following summer with one year left on his contract refusing to talk to the press for the whole year. Refusing all talks about a contract extension and letting all speculation about his future in air. Then during that last season of his contract with Arsenal, they are flying in all competitions, win the league, make gesture to the fans when he scores goals, suggesting that all the media talk about him leaving is bullshit, whole fanbase speculate that there is no way he could leave the club when they at the top. It's only a tactic to get a better deal on his own. Then two of the big trio of unsigned star players of Arsenal Gabriel & Saliba finally re-sign with Arsenal. Now it's obvious the local boy will follow suit, right? Then just after Arsenal are officialized as EPL champion, he makes a statement with a video explaining that it will be his last season with Arsenal and that he will leave on free to Real Madrid at the end of the season to experience new things (and then you learn that Arsenal offered him significantly more money) but you would expect the whole Arsenal fanbase to accept his decision right, how can he refuse to go to Real Madrid of all club? He own Arsenal nothing, he cost them nothing as he was a product of their academy. There is no way any Arsenal fans could be irritated by that, feeling betrayed and used. They should feel privilegied and honored that their players are targeted by Real.

Can you read? I said I see why he gets booed not that he should be. And I’ve already said that I wouldn’t boo him (or anyone).

Hey if you need to play semantic games so you can defend the booing while staying on your high horse, by all means.

If Saka wins two titles, a UCL, and a couple other cups while consistently hearing that he should be benched and he decides that he wants to be somewhere else, I'll applaud him for his accomplishments.

I call bullshit on that. That's you trying to claim moral ground. If a player talk so much about wanting to be a one man club and playing for Arsenal is whole career is his dream then willingly letting his contract run out to leave on a free while Arsenal are still very much at the top you would find it very phony and wrong and call that player out. You don't have to boo him but you would clearly not feel that it is alright

Nobody can't deny TAA achievement for the club but his ultimate legacy for LFC is tarnished. I still expcet him 10 years from now to kick ball for the LFC legend squad but the way he managed his departure is the issue

I’m not defending the booing but I also don’t care. The Gerrard chant Sunday was the appropriate way of dealing with the situation.

If TAA went to Manchester United. I could understand why the Liverpool fans will be angry. That's their rival team.

TAA went to Real Madrid. In the biggest club in the world. For a new challenge. I can't understand why the Liverpool fans are angry. Whatever there's fees or it's a free transfer it's the same.

Again it's not about departing the club, it's the how he departed. We lost Mane/Henderdon that way, they wanted new challenges and nobody is mad at them for leaving same with Firmino, Wijnaldum, Fabinho.

They can have Trent early if they give us first option on one of their player sales, I.e. Rodrygo/Tchouameni/whoever else they are trying to sell this summer.

I think that's a fair compromise

Call bullshit all you want - I'm glad you know how I would act. By the way, generally speaking, the Blues fanbase didn't blame Pietrangelo for leaving, they blamed the GM, and the Cardinals fanbase didn't blame Pujols for leaving. The best comparison I can think of is LeBron leaving Cleveland and everyone clowned their fanbase's reaction. It especially lines up because in both cases, it's an instance of a guy leaving his crappy industrial hometown to go to a sunnier destination on a super team to win titles and be rich in a fun town.

You also left out some key facts, like the manager that TAA came up under retiring, signaling the end of an era, especially considering that the last two seasons - which is when he would have his head turned - weren't exactly stellar.

Pietrangelo is not from St.Louis and from what I have seen of him, he never claimed that playing for St.Louis is his dream and retiring as a blue would be his ultimate goal. I could be corrected on that last point though. Also Hockey is not football, there is way more fluctuation in team squad than in football.

The people who were booing are probably in the group that's seen him play in person hundreds of times. I don't think you can tell those kinds of supporters what to think. They live the club, I don't.

If the Class of 92 had decided they were going to leave for free and ran their contract down it would have gone over extremely badly. It is a conscious choice to do that, see MacAllister not doing it. That makes you a prick.

These are both terrible examples. If anything LFC's front office did everything in their power for Trent to stay.

This is also a bad example. LeBron left Cleveland because he couldn't win/needed to learn how to win elsewhere. Also I think its fair to state that European sports as a whole historically do not operate like American sports do. I can give you that the tide might be starting to change a bit but the Mbappe/Trent situations are currently the exceptions, not the rule.

Not to pick on Arsenal, but if Saka left because he wanted to win some trophies and then come back (like LeBron) that would be a much closer comparison to this. See also Harry Kane going to Bayern. Trent does not need to leave Liverpool to win major trophies

This is only relevant if LFC would have cratered after Klopp left. They very clearly did not. I do not want to say Trent was counting on LFC failing post-Klopp because that would be harsh. I would say that Trent probably thought LFC would suffer and that's when he started to engineer this move. But of course now he looks like a tit because the team obviously can win without Klopp

You're old enough to remember Arsenal fans acting like animals and psychopaths over Adebayor. The criticisms ring hollow coming from that end. Nobody on our end has even come close to that kind of behavior.

I'm fine with Liverpool saying no. If they want to be petty about two weeks where they'll get absolutely nothing from TAA, that's their prerogative. I just don't understand saying booing TAA is justified (or whatever weaselly phrasing is needed to maintain moral superiority) just because his new club asked a question.
I’m not defending the booing but I also don’t care. The Gerrard chant Sunday was the appropriate way of dealing with the situation.
Say it with your chest instead of trying to squirm away from the meaning of your words. Be brave! Speaking of Gerrard, though, I hope Trent's family remain safe. I know that's an issue given your fans.
Fortunately for you you’ll never have to worry about this.
Oooh burn!
The reason he’s defending him is because Trent not defending is the only reason they got a point last weekend
Wouldn't that mean that I want him to stay at Liverpool? Like where's the logic in this?

Again I'm going to point you in the direction of Adebayor. For all of this. Anyway I will enjoy the league title celebrations in two weeks and forget about this. You can do whatever you'll do that day.

According to Trent Madrid is also a rival. He is not wrong

Not just to Adebayor
