2025 Summer Transfer Rumors and Discussion Closed Window

I think he'd start for us, so 60 mil isn't too much. He's better defensively than Casado and much better than Frenkie.

I don’t. Frenkie isn’t perfect, but I’d have him over Zubimendi. And Frenkie doesn’t get enough credit. Pretty telling one of his teammates, was it Lamine, just singled him out.

With Bernal coming back there zero reason to spend on zubi

Jury is still out on Bernal, but he looks the business. We have other players too like Garrido, but I’m worried he’ll leave for nothing.

You gotta think there's a chance Rodrygo gets sold this summer. Played 0 minutes today. Already rumours last summer with City

I just don’t get it. I mean I get it if you’re bringing in a better replacement, but otherwise I’d keep him. Plenty of other players they could/shoudl offload instead.

Like I said yesterday, wonder if Alonso uses the same formation when he comes to Madrid. If so i would imagine you’ll have even more big players sit, unless he uses Camavinga and Valverde on the flanks.

He’s a good player but will he be a RB? He might be worse than TAA defensively
I have no idea. Kind of have to let the front office cook, even if part of me thinks we are only doing this because he is cheap and has a high ceiling. Honestly (not sure Frimpong would go for this) I kind of like him off the bench based on game state. Also could also be kind of matchup based. Maybe Salah and Bradley are the starters and Frimpong does a bit of both. Think he fills a HG spot too. Whether he is a perfect fit or not, he’s already worth around twice what it’ll take to get him in.

Saw L’Equipe was linking Vanderson from Monaco too but he’s another one that is small and not a great defender. That’s kind of what is out there right now. LFC’s best route to replace Trent either way is just to pray Bradley can stay healthy a full season

Does Xabi Alsonso play with wingbacks?

Famously. No idea what he is going to do with Trent.

AIt-Nouri will def get a move. Supposedly he is LFC back up plan to Kerkez; but if he doesn't want to wait, I am sure someone will pick him up.

Frimpong is shaking in his boots at the thought of going up against Martinelli and Trossard!!
Martinelli literally just scored on Liverpool, so not sure why you're on your high horse about that.

That said, given that Frimpong just got skinned by Arminia Bielefeld and Marius Worl, perhaps it would be a good time to rotate and let one of our academy players stat pad.

But, hey, I'm glad you got a new signing and your first thought was Arsenal <3

I feel like the Frimpong fit stuff is overblown. Sure he can't defend, but neither did TAA. Frimpong can create like TAA can, but I'm sure Slot can figure out how to make him tick.

I think its entirely possible that:

- Frimpong isn't coming to LFC to start
- He gets more games at RM than at RB
- He gets sold for a profit even if he doesn't work out.

Here is some FSG math

If Release Clause < Transfer Value ; its worth a punt.

Do I love it? Not particularly. But this front office has a lot more hits than it does misses. Especially after winning a league title, I will choose to give the benefit of the doubt. A low release clause isn't (or at the minimum really shouldn't) be kneecapping anything else that they are trying to do this summer

Madrid should have signed Frimpong and Trent should have extended, but here we are. Its like that summer where everyone thought Chelsea was getting Lukaku and Utd were getting Morata and then at the last minute they swapped and everyone wound up miserable

Frimpong would be a decent fit at United(famous last words) I think at RWB. But there's zero reason for him to sign with us.

But yeah we'll see. I think it could work out fine, the Liverpool system is pretty decent and I think he'll fit in decent.

Yeah I mean, LFC have hit on pretty much every transfer except Naby Keita (mostly due to injuries) and Darwin (don't let managers do transfers too) since Brendan Rodgers left, so you kind of just have to let that front office cook

The squad desperately needs pace. Other than Diaz, I can't remember the last time Salah or Gakpo or Nunez or Jota beat their man for pace.

Anyway, Salah cutting inside and Frimpong making those overlapping runs will be awesome.

Also... he wants to come here, reasonably priced release clause (which can apparently be paid in instalments lol), home grown, provides a different tactical dimension, and even if he cannot defend there's no reason a manager like Slot cannot find a way to use his strengths and limit his weaknesses.

AFCON this year too. Frimpong probably going to cover Salah while he is away.

I quite like Frimpong; he isn't at Dumfries or Kerkez level, but he is still a solid player.

Nonetheless, I feel LFC can do better...

Maybe? But at that price - hard to say right now. LFC might also be getting Kerkez too though. Which would be nice.

Either way, this transfer is one that I am going to reserve judgement on until the end of the window. Need more of a sense on how the puzzle pieces will fit. Either way, don’t see a ton of downside here.
