2025 Summer Transfer Rumors and Discussion Closed Window

He’s a #10 like Gallagher was a #10 at Chelsea last year. Heat map is a #10, but heat maps don’t capture role.
people have a very specific role/skill set in mind when they hear #10. That is objectively not what Gallagher and Szoboszlai provide. “Advanced 8” is not as catchy though

I think the future is playing with a 10 and Salah at 9. I mean he doesn’t defend anymore at all.

Our transfer strategy is basically to get as many great players as we can and figure out what to do with them after.

Honestly no real idea what we are doing this summer besides (probably) going back to Bournemouth. Get your popcorn ready

Personally, I was never a fan of TAA to begin with and it has nothing to do with his play. Just his general attitude/behavior, non chalant, ego and laziness. I know easy to say now, but it's the truth. I prefer Conor Bradley type of right back who is almost the polar opposite of TAA, run hard, tackle hard, overly agressive but one issue with him. Conor has a tendency to push his body to the limit and get tired or injured in later part of a game. So LFC will need another good RB option.

I am not so sad although it is weird of all player at LFC as the local superstar to leave on a free to Real Madrid when the club is quite possibly at their peak of success of the past 30 years. I do believe that Jude is responsible more so than Real Madrid, I have no doubt that Jude was in his ears since joining Real Madrid to also join.

Is he considered a legend? I don't think so, unless you consider the like of Owen, McManaman as legends. He will be considered as in the same bracket of "legends"

Doesn’t move the needle for me. I’d be worried when they actually something resembling a functioning defence and a forward line.

He'll help offensively... but yeah, not a signing I would have made.

He will be as bad as Vazquez defensively and Mbappé/Vini won't defend more. They'll need to put another lung in Valverde to try to cover for all of those guys that do not defend.
If Alonso is the manager there is an easy fix. TAA as the RM/RB role. Although I have many question about him defensively. Offensively he is by far the best at his position. He could unlock the offense.

has he played RM? My impression is he’s at his best when he has the ball acting as a DPM.

Madrid still need a 9 and 3/ 4 defenders. Maybe another midfielder too.

And a keeper since Courtois is just a bitch.

He has never been tried at RM because Klopp never used that position nor Slot.

But to me his play with the RM position like a glove. His crosses are fabulous, his long passes are fabulous and his vision is very good. He can cross and shoot with both feet. He can unleash long shot and he likes to go forward. I think as a RM you will have the best of TAA while not having his worst part (defending)

He could play the Grimaldo role at Leverkusen just on the opposite side.

Then they just added a forward who won run. Like I said this to me is a bad fit. His warts on Madrid can’t be hidden because of the profile of others. With Liverpool it was a lot easier but Madrid don’t have a VVD nor the press

Peace. His right to do it. But don’t moan like Owen when you’re not cheered next time you come through.

It will be funny when he complains or takes a complete hiding about his lack of defending when he has to defend for himself and whatever forward is in front of him. He has a magical delivery, and at times it should be fun. I’m not sure it always will be.

That's my biggest worry.

In a vaccuum, we got a great player and we are not paying a transfer fee. But in context, we are adding a player at a position of need... but with a profile that does not seem to mesh with what we already have in place.

Hopefully, it is just the first of many moves, but knowing Perez's MO, it is just a name for the sake of the name.
