2025 Summer Transfer Rumors and Discussion Closed Window

Flick isn’t splitting Martinez/cubarsi

Tah would have to fight with Aurajo and possibly Christensen if he ever recovers

Is that cause Martinez has such great chemistry with Cubarsi, or has he just been a worldclass CB in his own right?

Cause current Tah is a lot better than Christensen ever has been, so that wouldn't be hard. Araujo at his best would probably be too tricksy for Tah...especially while he's still gelling with your other CBs...but if Araujo isn't at his best, I'd take this version of Tah.

Since Alonso took charge, the big fella is finally living up to all of the hype he had as a youngin; reliably making the right reads, knowing how to compensate for his limited straight-line speed even against world class attackers, and being an absolute force when he does step in.

As long as he keeps this level up, I'm starting him over Schlotterbeck or Rüdiger for the NT, unless we're playing with a back 3. He's just such a calming presence in defense, and his skill with the ball hasn't gone away.

Inigo is I'd say vital for our team right now, I wanted him for Barcelona for ages

Inigo has been good for Barca this year, but I doubt it lasts beyond this season. At his age, the drop can be quick and hard, especially if he gets knocks and no longer can recover from them like younger players can.

That said, I don't think Tah would be an ideal CB partner for Cubarsi like Inigo has been.

I know I'm a fan of Tah but still.. fourth best choice right now

Haven’t seen this anywhere, and Coman (rightfully or wrongfully) doesn’t really fit LFC. Don’t think they’d try and do the Chiesa experiment again

Romano linked them to Morgan Rogers today. Usually Romano is lousy with LFC, but that’s a new name

The german reports took it pretty seriously

You guys know your CBs, but I'm skeptical that Flick will convince him to come just to be 4th choice. So if he does pick you, I suspect it'll be because Flick expects him to beat out at least Araujo.

I guess? But I just doubt it.

Doesn’t fit their model to get an older injury prone winger with no resale value. And I think they were burned pretty bad by the Chiesa signing so don’t think they are going back there again

Coman is a lot better than chiesa and has more left in the tank, but that’s fair. Could make sense though if Bayern just want to dump his wages so they can sign Sane to a new (cheaper) contract.

I think I am starting to become a nostalgic merchant.

I am currently watching a lot of videos about players from the past, their achievements and the state of football in general from various leagues the 1970s, 1980s 1990s and early 2000s and it's becoming clearer by the day (at least for me) that money killed football and the nice stories of the past will never be repeated. I am not even that old but it feels that right now there are 10 teams controlling all of football and the underdog story and players playing for the love of beautiful football is over. Now it's like global football entities/brands controlling players like assets to make money from their resale or 'developing them' by offering significant sums of money at very young age.

The way Araujo is playing that's debatable. He could be sold any time now too, the rumors have been there. Not even a starter now. Tah would be a solid #3

If that's the case, it makes a lot more sense. Even if Martinez doesn't slow down this summer, he's turning 34, so you could integrate Tah as the 3rd CB and have him ready to take over when age catches up to Inigo.

I do sometimes wonder where we'd be if all of the top leagues had adopted 50+1, and no exceptions were allowed. Money has always had an unfortunately role in football, but at least the clubs focus would be more on the fan experience than their balance sheets.

LFC Notes

From Romano
- Morgan Rogers

Old Names from James Pearce
- Milos Kerkez
- Jorrel Hato
- Dean Huijsen

New Names from James Pearce (not necessarily new, but new from Pearce)
- Hugo Ekitike or Ben Sesko
- Angelo Stiller

First I saw anything solid on Stiller; that would be a great move if they could pull it off. Ekitike's name has been getting some momentum recently; but if his price tag has also skyrocketed, into high eight figures that they may as well be shopping in the 100m + range. Same with Sesko, but I think he is a better fit for other clubs; and Ekitike probably a better fit for LFC than Sesko would be

Would very much like Morgan Rogers; and LFC are probably going to need another English player. Probably would cost a lot but would solve a bunch of issues.

Nothing changed with that group of defenders. Would assume they are getting at least one from that three.

Here in France, Liverpool is talked as one of the 6 EPL teams interested in Cherki.
It's said however that Slot is unsure how to use him his system.

From what I’ve seen he can be “slotted” anywhere. Probably best as a 10

Actually it would suit them since they want a 10 someone creative to help create from the midfield
So the issue with Cherki is that whoever is playing #10 for LFC is going to have to do Salah’s running for them. Szoboszlai does this and has had to sacrifice output in order to do so. Szoboszlai however I think is leading the league in counterpressures. Heck, LFC’s #9’s are up near the top of counterpressers for their positions as well. In a vacuum I would love to add Cherki, but I think it would be a waste of his talents

They're not really playing any 10 right now.
Yes - Szoboszlai is definitely more advanced than Alexis and Gravenberch but he is definitely in that “Spy” role where he is using his athleticism defensively. But again, whoever they sign there is going to have to do Salah’s work

More of an 8 than a 10 really.
