We can get away with only 1 forward not working defensively as long as he produces offensively.

Mbappe walking was a problem. Mbappe+Messi walking was impossible to deal with.

Sucks to lose the younger guy to re-sign the 2 older guys but it's definitely the right call. So many guys these days in all sports not only playing to very advanced ages but also playing well. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Salah and VVD were still Liverpools best players 5 years from now. As long as Salah is playing like this they have got to be title favorites. If Arsenal doesn't sign a legit 25 goal scorer we should just hand them the title again next season.

Makes sense. That's why Liverpool has won all of the titles since Salah and Van Dijk joined.

It's funny how last year people were talking about how Liverpool was coming to the end of an era and it was time to move on from Salah (and the performances supported that) but he has one year where he goes nuclear while playing for a contract and now it's Liverpool's title to lose.

It wasn't. It's why Luis Enrique started to play either without Mbappe or him at 9.
It's also how Deschamps makes it work.
