Also the most important 1/3rd.Problem is that is just 1/3 of the team.

I would expect Detroit's defense (and thereby their goaltending) to be absolutely shredded by nearly any of the top players remaining. Even if Mo and Ed played well, no way on Earth the Wings could consistency contain a guy like Kyle Connor, let alone a Rantanen or a McDavid. Also the most important 1/3rd.

Ed needs another year or two, the blue line needs another player or two to slot guys correctly, and Detroit would need a better guy in net than Talbot (let alone Mrazek) to have a chance in the playoffs.
Fair. I don't see him being on the team when the kids are finally ready, so it's a moot point, but you may be right in principle. This may be a hot take but honestly I don't think they'd need a better guy than Talbot.
Don't get me wrong it would be nice but watching the playoffs I don't see any Roy's or Brodeur's out there, let alone a Hasek. Sure Woll or Bob can have a great game here and there but are generally up and down over a series. Team defense is the bigger factor and the goalie can be "good enough."
I guess I'm saying on the list of making this team playoff competitive, I'd put getting a guy better than Talbot as a lower priority.
Other than the fact that it's at least 50-50 that they'll lose to Florida? The East is setting up nicely for the Leafs. Is this their year?
Washington are frauds. Regular season team just like the Jets. There's a chance we might be sleeping on Carolina also. Sure beating the injured Devils and the fraud Capitals is nothing amazing but they have done it decisively. Healthy Svechnikov this time around is helping.

Watching the third and I see the score, but both teams look bad.Leafs are leaf'ing again
Carolina isn't really a hateable team for me but I still can't bring myself to root for a team trying to corsi its way to a Cup. Their style results in sooo many boring hockey games.

The first period felt even but clearly all down hill for the Leafs since. This should be the end of the core 4. But, if they want to keep it going, please do so.Watching the third and I see the score, but both teams look bad.
