Thought this was kind of interesting....

2 of the remaining 4 teams are from areas with the lowest taxes among NHL locations.
3 of the remaining 4 teams rank top 10 in lowest taxes

The last 5 Stanley Cup champions were all top 7 in lowest taxes
Only 1 team in the last 10 years is ranked outside the top 15 in lowest taxes.

I put this on in the background while getting ready to head out to Cronenberg’s new movie.

At first, I didn’t realize that his little clip show at the beginning wasn’t current. It’s amazing how long the same critiques of the core in Leafland have been accurate.

Dangle lost his fast ball. This years elimination day video lacks the punch of the others. He’s older, jaded, and probably just f***ing tired of it. I get it.

What a game that was though lol
I assume he has made a lot of money from his Leafs misery ? I don’t feel sorry for the guy . He is knowledgeable and insightful about the game but I find him too ingratiating. Low Quality Bruins fan is much funnier and I prefer his personality over Steve .

A good lesson to learn from IMO.

Absolutely. More than a few lessons actually.

I think that paying mega-bucks for essentially your 4th best forward your now getting a marginalized return on that investment.

There's a happy middle ground somewhere. Colorado looked at it's 2nd best forward and said no thanks, too much for one guy and got burned.

Say you have 40 million, I think it's better to go 10-10-10-5-5 allocated to your Top 5 forwards than say 10-10-10-10 to your Top 4.

I talk about Marner because he's a guy the Bruins might actually target, but Matthews is an even bigger loser. Holy shit does he suck when it matters.

I really enjoy the people that put on the whole “he must be injured” justification year after year.

Isn’t pretty much everyone injured one way or another after playing pro hockey for eight months straight?

I think Steve does the sensationalism schtick much better. But, LQBF is a rookie in comparison. If he keeps it going for almost 20 years like Dangle, I would expect him to improve greatly.

Outside of the loyalties, they are very similar to me

Someone pointed Steve Dangle out to me back when he first started doing LFR. He couldn’t have been more than a year or two into high school. Was pretty funny and appreciated his passion for his team and the game.

Now he’s mostly shtick and I legitimately can’t listen to his screeching “alternate persona” voice.

Matthews is kind of like an actor who has leading man good looks but is much better playing character roles . It won’t happen but he should leave Toronto. He can’t carry the reigns , he is more of a riding shotgun kind of guy .

LQBF > Dangle

Now saying that, I think Steve is a better hockey guy. His podcast where he’s not beholden to his shtick is quite good.

But I’ll take LQBF over the constant screaming.

I like the screaming because it means Toronto is failing. That's a factor that can't be ignored. Dangle acknowledges that his hottest content are always the elimination videos. He's had A LOT to scream about over the years.

TORONTO (AP) — Florida Panthers newcomer Brad Marchand felt very much at home beating up an old foe in the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night.

Marchand scored into an empty net and set up his linemates for two other goals in the Florida Panthers’ 6-1 victory in Game 7 over the team the 37-year-old left wing grew up cheering for.

He became the first player in NHL history to win five Game 7s against one franchise after winning the four previous times with the Boston Bruins. Yes, the menace Toronto fanatics love to hate, got the last laugh — again.

“I grew up a Leafs fan, and I enjoy playing against the Leafs,” Marchand said. “I enjoy interacting with fans. It’s fun. I don’t take myself too seriously. I love getting made fun of and I love making fun of people. If you can’t take it, then so be it. I’m going to enjoy the moments that I have.

When I come in here and I get booed, I’m good. I’m going to show it. I’m going to enjoy that.”

In a series in which the top two lines on each team cancelled out each other, the Panthers thrived with the depth of Marchand’s third line and the fourth line.

Marchand’s linemates, Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen, each scored. Fourth-liner Jonah Gadjovich also connected.

Panthers coach Paul Maurice was thankful that assistant general manager Gregory Campbell had urged Florida to trade for Marchand. The two were longtime Bruins teammates.

“He is an incredibly positive spirit,” Maurice said. “Guys who are vocal and intense sometimes will be screaming on the bench. They get so wired. He never does that.”

Maurice added there is a Marchand effect with youngsters Lundell and Luostarinen.

“He’s affected those guys in such a positive way of thinking about the game, and making plays in small areas and making them feel those two young guys have it in them,” Maurice said.

The veteran coach also kept his perfect Game 7 record intact. He's 6-0 in Game 7s.

“Game 7s are for the players,” Maurice said. “It doesn’t matter how your hands feel. It doesn’t matter how your body feels. It doesn’t matter how well you execute. If it’s how comfortable you are in hard situations, then you have a chance.”

I hold out hope he comes back to Boston. Maybe he won't ...who knows.
I hope he does as well. I think it also depends on how far they go this year. If he wins the cup maybe he's more likely to come back but if they get close and lose I could see him wanting to have another shot at it.

I thought something similar- "see you in Boston this summer"
That would really be wild and probably didn’t happen but he sure acted like Brad said something that got his attention but nothing mean but surprising

I have never watched this guy.

Right now, I am watching Pasta play.

Not entirely accurate. Leafs can’t get by the second round. This is their best performance since 2011. Usually they are taken out earlier in the second round this time they got it to game 7. Bruins have been to the finals a few times.
its close.
Both teams seem to lose the same way. They win a game on the road only to totally choke on game 7 on home ice. If we did not win in 2011 I think us Bruins fans and the team would be considered #1 chokers to date.
I thank Tim Thomas. we win nothing without him. And I still think we wouldve won in 2012 with him in net if they called goalie interference on that game 7 winner. No way thats a goal now.

He must have enough saved to last generations at this point. Assuming he truly still is a Leafs fan and his act is an act it might be a good time for him to take a break.
