NHL 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV - Leafs crash and burn in Game 7

Personally, I’m glad the Bruins moved on from Carlo and thought he was terrible last night. I don’t think he’s a legit top 4 D anymore . When the Leafs acquired him many felt he was perfect for the Toronto Maple Leafs right now . The Carlo - Krug D pairing was arguably the Bruins best D pairing in the 2019 deep run but he hasn’t been good since then in my opinion.
Agreed. Don't get me wrong. I think it was the right time to move on from BC. I wish we could go back and take away several of those concussions.

My only point was that the addition of Carlo and others -- combined with Berube's system -- produced a much better defensive structure than Toronto has put forth over the past 10 years. Lots of clogged lanes and blocked shots.

That said, it certainly wasn't without warts -- including BC's game.

Regardless, defense and goalies have always been the bane of Toronto. Don't think that was the case this year. Top four (outside of Nylander overall) just don't have what it takes to win.

If I was this mad at the Bruins I’d burn a jersey…….a Montreal jersey! 😂

Funny that people would burn or throw a jersey on the ice vs just throwing it in a closet or giving it away. Anywho, it was another classic Maple Leaf meltdown and they can say it’s the end of an era….I think it’s also the end of some success they have had and they will return to middle of the pack.
I hope you are right. You don’t think they will be good in the regular season next year?

In order to understand the Leaf fan turmoil we all need some empathy.

I'm just not a good enough human being to have that empathy though.

funny thing of all the ineptitude is you can trace it back to when they signed pajama boy.

they screwed themselves over cap wise in multiple ways with that one move. first they spent 11m a year on a luxury. they didnt need a big money forward with 3 elite young forwards in Matthews/Marner/Nylander. they also reset the internal pay structure and cost themselves an extra couple million a year on Matthews's and Marner's extensions. Tavares arguably cost them 15m a year in cap space.

and signing him cost them the chance to sign Pietrangelo, the one FA piece that cam available during this run that would've changed things for them

Singing Tavares was the biggest video game GM move ever until the same guy left for Pitt and immediately traded for Erik Karlsson.

100% wanting to land a big name, 0% actually trying to fill a team’s needs.

It’s the kind of shit I pined for the Bruins to do when I was in middle school and was clueless.

Brad Marchand’s price tag will be higher after these playoffs are finished

And he deserves every cent

Yea, I would give him the 7.5 for 3 years he asked for to return. Move some guys and cut fat if you have to, but we have the money.

Depends on if he wants to tho, he may be determined to win another cup before his career is over. 2019 and 13 kill us but I bet it kills him more, especially 2019....he was beside himself after that game and you could tell he felt like shit about the bad change. That stuff can haunt you for a life time. If he doesn't win with Florida this year he might want to run it back with them, or a team close or the team that wins this year. Maybe he re-unites with his old dancin' buddy Seguin?

I hope he returns tho

I love Brad one of my favourite Bruins ever but only want him back if the Bruins have a revamped top 6 . Bruins won’t be deep enough next year to get the most out of Marchand. Panthers are expecting less out of him and getting more. Since Tkachuk was a ghost in this series not sure the Panthers beat Toronto without Marchand. The Hockey Gods conspired against the Leafs yet again.

Come on someone argue with me about Mitch Marner again.

Come on.

Do it.

Argue with me about Mitch Marner again.
Not sure what there is to argue about.

Couple of points:

1) Last year during the playoffs there was a disagreement on the bench. Mitch fired his gloves onto the floor so hard he's lucky it didn't break a coaches toe. The man was angry. He was also making a very very strong point. Not sure what the point was but he was f***ing making it.

2) This year he yelled at the bench. So hard, that even a little spittle flew out of his mouth. Man was pissed. Magnesium burns with less intensity.

What more do you want?

Have never once even considered throwing away or burning a Bruins jersey, now I have retired them in the back of the closet for a bit ,and my Bruins blanket has made its way to the laundry and not come back for awhile. But could never get upset enough to destroy them. And we have had some pretty upsetting times, must be the never getting even a sniff of a cup or getting even close that does it to the Leaf fans maybe.

Those same fans are probably buying new jerseys in October.

I wonder what it would take for me to burn two of my Bruins jerseys (I own four) and become a Habs fan?

And no, that is not a challenge to Bruins ownership.
The dude is an idiot. I think they moved the chains in regards to being tougher. They just ran out of gas against the Panthers. Those same Panthers that pretty much derailed the Bruins to where they are now. So, I’m not totally trashing them too much. I think they have the right coach moving forward. I wouldn’t change to much if I was them. They need some tweaks.

You cannot win if the top players on your team like to hang out with this guy. Just can't.

Impossible.

P.S. If someone could AI the Biebs hat being thrown onto the ice along with the Leaf jerseys I'd find that amusing.....
