Agreed. Don't get me wrong. I think it was the right time to move on from BC. I wish we could go back and take away several of those concussions.Personally, I’m glad the Bruins moved on from Carlo and thought he was terrible last night. I don’t think he’s a legit top 4 D anymore . When the Leafs acquired him many felt he was perfect for the Toronto Maple Leafs right now . The Carlo - Krug D pairing was arguably the Bruins best D pairing in the 2019 deep run but he hasn’t been good since then in my opinion.
My only point was that the addition of Carlo and others -- combined with Berube's system -- produced a much better defensive structure than Toronto has put forth over the past 10 years. Lots of clogged lanes and blocked shots.
That said, it certainly wasn't without warts -- including BC's game.
Regardless, defense and goalies have always been the bane of Toronto. Don't think that was the case this year. Top four (outside of Nylander overall) just don't have what it takes to win.
