My unfounded observation on Duran is that the trade rumors are bothering him. He has played like garbage since the rumors started. I won't mind if he is traded because his defense is ordinary and last year's power will not happen again. However Abreu is the one they should trade.

Duran should have been traded during the winter with more value, what was Breslow waiting for? With his skillset, he just doesn't make sense to the Red Sox as a LF and especially with half his games in front of the monster. He needs to go to a place in which he can be the permanent CF, maximize his value there and in a perfect world go to a city in which the pressure is less than in Boston with less annoying "journalists" who happen to think they have the god given right to play celebrity and get on the players nerves.

The destinations I'd like the most for him are San Diego, Atlanta or maybe Cincinnati.

It wouldn't have been a popular decision, but probably necessary for the same reasons they are looking to deal him now. I get that they are not prospect hunting and are trying to compete as it's been so long, but they obviously can't nor want to force it and quite frankly Duran does not fit their (contending) timeline perfectly. They should have tried finding someone willing to give away pitching for him. I know Seattle is a tough nut, but possibly Woo for Duran. Not sure those deals are on the table anymore.
