Hmm, they have obviously identified us as a source for outfielders and they have decent starting pitching. Might be something here, considering the strength of their interest.

Everything I've read indicates that the Padres are trying to add starting pitching, not subtract.

Besides, what starter is worth trading Duran for?

King and Cease are both pending free agents, and I don't think you risk trading Duran for someone you could lose at the end of the year.

I wouldn't trade Duran for Nick Pivetta.

Kolek and Vazquez are fairly young and have decent ERAs, but the kind of peripherals that make you think things could go south at any moment.

And they don't really have any really good (healthy) prospects in AA or AAA.

I just don't see a Duran trade fit with San Diego, no matter how much they may want him.

Depends on the offer, the same obstacles remain. I don't really want to trade a good young player with 3-4 years of control for any of those SD starters.
