Red Sox/MLB 2025 Regular Season III

Did NESN go a little over the top with the Bello love? Managing to go 6 full innings was celebrated like a no-hitter. Without his changeup, Bello is barely mediocre.

Abreu making quietbruinfan look good. Apparently Wilyer thinks swinging harder is an adjustment.

Only the Sox could start an inning with single, double, double and only score one run. On top of that, they had Devers (leads the league in RBI) coming up next.

Another terrible night for the home plate umpire. Bello's 2 walks would both have been strikeouts with a robo-ump.

Anyone else begging Rafaela not to swing on the 3-0 pitch he hit out?

What strikes me about this Red Sox team is the lack of fundamentals. They can't field the ball cleanly when it is hit to them. Their situational awareness is practically nil whether in the field or at the plate. This is the kind of stuff you learn in Little League & high school until it becomes automatic for f***'s sake.

It's been a few years like this.

What mistake did they make with Ellsbury?
Not trading him after 11.

I get they won a WS in 13 so it worked out, but at the time he was a legit (should've been) MVP candidates who they were never going to re-sign. They just had an absolutely epic collapse, fired Tito, and should've dealt him for a haul.

He doesnt attack hitters. It's not just him, it's an MLB problem with young guys that aren't Skubal/Skenes

He has a good change up and a good sinker. There is no reason he should be nibbling as much as he does.
Changeup has backed up a bunch this year, getting that back on track is key for him. When that pitch is working consistently he’s a different pitcher

Hard to get it on track when you're throwing it 6% of the time like hes been recently.

He doesn't have the raw stuff to get away from that pitch.
I think it’s a chicken and the egg sitch- did he lose his changeup because he’s not throwing it as much or is he not throwing his changeup as much because he lost it

Jayson Tatum plays quite literally every position on the floor depending on what the team needs in that moment, Pastrnak would play his off wing if told to, the Red Sox guy isn’t like that and is hurting the team
This is a horrible analogy. Basketball has become "positionless" in most cases. You're acting like Devers not playing 1B is why this team is terrible and it's completely disingenuous.

Raffy is basically being 2004 Nomar right now.

Anyway, looks like rumors are starting to swirl that if things continue to go off track, we could deal Bregman at the deadline since he's going to opt out anyway. Might be able to get a good young pitcher back.
