Scuffling O's fire manager Hyde after slow start
The Baltimore Orioles fired manager Brandon Hyde on Saturday, hoping a new leader can spark a turnaround of the most disappointing team in Major League Baseball.

He sucks. Just a brutal signing from day one.Trevor Story is now tied for the American League lead in strikeouts with 56.
That's pretty bad but consider he also has only 7 walks.
That's pathetic.
I agree. But also, isn't it the staff and Cora's job to teach how to play winning baseball? TEAM baseball, not individual baseball?
More so than actually teaching they are the ones who establish the culture
I think we need new blood in the head coaching position

Even with all the analytics pod people, I think the manager still sets the culture though. Cora emphasizes three run homers and celebrations from what I can see.I think he makes a good point about players chasing personal accomplishment- let's face it that's how you get paid these days. Nobody wants to bunt or hit a sac fly because those things diminish their personal stats.
As for playing as a team that should have been taught from when they started Little League.
And how did 1988 workout? It hasn't been good so far, but the American League is thoroughly mediocre this year. They're in range to be in the playoff hunt if they can catch a hot streak. It might require a trade, call up, or firing to give them that spark. If they dumped Cora now they could have some 1988 style Morgan Magic under Ramon Vazquez or whoever they'd give it to (Varitek?)
I liked it you hated it ~ great callHe sucks. Just a brutal signing from day one.
Being honest, I didn't "hate" it. I certainly didn't love it though. It was a middling "big" contract and Chaim got it wrong.I liked it you hated it ~ great call
