Red Sox/MLB 2025 Regular Season II

yeah I think I’m 100% ready to fire Cora. Can anyone name anything he’s handled well this year? He bungled Devers too because he wants to be his bestie
I'm fine with firing Cora but this trash bullpen ain't his doing. He did lead the charge for Bregman though and probably could have done more to smooth that out ahead of time with Devers.

Starting to think I could’ve managed the 2018 team to a WS

Roster has been different year to year the last few but the coach is the same as are the results
Roster being different but still flawed. It's not all on Cora. I think we all understand the role of baseball manager is maybe the most insignificant in pro sports in terms of wins and losses.

You just can't accomplish anything with this bullpen. It's not gonna happen. They did very little to address it and will pay for it. Absolutely feels like an 81-81 team.

They did add Chapman. That seems to have been a good move. Problem is so many of his outings have been like last night. Not a save situation, rather a hold on to a tie game. Which results in a loss anyway.

Bottom line, with the game on the line Sox do not come through. On the mound, at the plate, in the field.

I agree with him but not because of gambling. I don't think his career was HoF worthy. Why? I'm 62 and all 40+ posters who reply will disagree with me because he's the all-time hits leader and I order them to. ;) In the last week I wrote my feelings about this.

"Pete is not top 1000 in SLG% and even Willie Jones, Gary Redus, and Casey Stengel outslugged him with a puny .4102 SLG%. Pete had so little power and speed that in 15,890 PAs he hit only 746 doubles. He's a compiler not a HoFer".

Same argument could be made for Ichiro. Did a bunch of things great that weren't all time greats in scoring runs.

Good post. I stand corrected. Ichiro is a HoFer and he's not top 1000 in SLG%. I don't consider him HoF worthy either.

I didn't even know there was a character clause. Surely there are plenty of bad guys in hall of fame.

Now that he's actually eligible for hall, who votes on him? Does he go straight to the old timers committee vote or whatever they are called?

Yes, it would have to go before the Era Committee, formerly known as the Veterans Committee. This is the same committee that sent Harold Baines into the Hall of Fame.

He lacks power, not a compiler.

A compiler doesnt lead the league in hits 7x, win 3 batting titles and hit .303 over 3,500 games. Also you say "only 746 doubles" like he didnt lead the league in doubles 5x

I usually am the LAST person on the planet to defend Pete Rose.

.....but this take is so bad, I'm making an exception. If it was a blatant attempt to troll, congrats, you got me. If you truly feel that way, then you go with that.
