Red Sox/MLB 2025 Regular Season II

Between bringing in the Bernmeister and that, Cora did not cover himself in glory. It is time for a new manager past time.

I was always ok with him overall.
He’s never been the best strategist, but I always thought his other attributes made up for it..good with players, usually decent with bullpen deployment…

But this year I think he’s cost them between 2-3 games, especially in extras.

I agree with your assessment but any time you insert Bernadino, you want to lose. I would say he has cost them five games. Have you seen their record in one run games?

He’s been good this year, IMO.
My biggest issue is the poor situational play….they rarely bunt, and as crazy as it may sound, I think they should steal more.

And you can’t let Toro get up twice in extras.

Lastly…they have to address 1B…not Romy, not Raffi or Toro..

Go get someone legit.

Bernadino is 2-1 with zero blown saves and an ERA of 1.88, WHIP of 0.84, 2 walks, 14 strikeouts.

Faced one batter tonight with 2 on and 2 out in extra inning and got his man.

So what the hell are you talking about?

This is all a fair response to my comment, however:
1 - They aren’t uncompetitive
2 - His hitting began to decline after the all star break last season and prior to his shoulder injury
3 - Is .250ish hitting Devers irreplaceable?
4 - Will his poor attitude continue to impact his performance and the clubhouse in Boston?
5 - If you really take the “bucket of BP balls” comment I made literally, would you as least agree to a bucket of game balls? 😀
20-20 is mediocre. If you think .500 is competitive, yikes. Against easiest schedule in baseball.

Devers got over the DH thing after an initial pouting phase. We'll see on this 1B thing. Hopefully it's just a brief period of frustration. But it's funny to me that everyone hates him in the field but now we are irate he won't bring his terrible defense to a position he's never played. He's not the ONLY option for 1B. They can try other solutions. He's not a first baseman just like every other guy talked about isn't either. Maybe we should be careful what we wish for. If he's a butcher at 1B and they tell him he's back to DH how do we think that will go?

Is he irreplaceable in the lineup? For this team, 100% yes.

His problems at third were throwing - he’s got a good glove - he’s a good athlete

He is the reason this team is 20/20 he’s being a vampire right now

Good on Henry

Situations change in life and the Red Sox did ~ if he doesn’t want to be a team guy we will try to deal you - also if I was his teammate I would love him but be pissed at him now. I’d still talk to him and be nice but I hide my disappointment in him. I’m certain others feel the same

You never know until you try and Eddie Matthews did it so Devers can

I expect him by the ASG playing first base and well

Ultimately I also think this all ends with Raffy playing 1B, which is why he’s an idiot for going public like that and needlessly causing a shit storm after a series win

From 20,000 feet I would think he would love it - he’s in the dirt, he’s always talking when on the bases to opposing players and smiling

I think he would look back and love it

He is being a baby and I’m sure if he doesn’t respect Henry and understand he never will - but I think he does

It all seems to start to be taking shape in a weird unorthodox way

We are learning shit here as where we are going in next year or so

C Navarro
1B Devers
2B Campbell
SS Mayer
3B Bregman
OF/DH
Duran
Rafaela
Abreu
Anthony

I’m a Refsnyder/Romi/Wong bench

Ok, you’re right about everything all the time, happy now?

No, but he's the best one by far.

15-10 when Narv catches

5-10 when Wong or Sabol catches

Most important defensive position in the sport
I’d rather Wong at 1B and Narvatez at C.

I know Wong isn’t hitting either, but I have more confidence that he’ll turn it around than Toro.
