Raffy is such a dink.
It'd be an overreaction to trade him but they need to find a way to get that bad energy away from the team. Possibly bringing in leadership from outside in terms of a veteran player or a coach.

This was entirely avoidable.
Someone should have had an honest conversation with Raffy years ago and let him know that he wasn't a good defensive 3B, and he was likely going to have to move to 1B or DH sooner rather than later.

For anyone saying Devers should go to 1B, the same could be said for a number of potential 1B candidates. Don't we have any athletes who can do the job better than Devers and also hit at an acceptable level?
At the end of the day the Red Sox should have the power to say you're gonna start taking balls at first to prep for the move. If he says no, you just roll over and take it?
The part where Raffy is like “what if an OF goes down are they going to ask me to play OF?” really grinds my gears. It’s so disingenuous and immature.
Im a big Raffy guy. He’s in the wrong here. Team suffered a catastrophic injury and it would be in the teams best interest for him to at least try. Adrian Gonzalez volunteered to play RF when the team needed it. Devers has the most security in the history of the organization and is simply making the decision not to do what is in the teams best interest out of spite that the team signed a better 3B than him. It is what it is.
Pretty much every 3B who isn’t gold glove caliber can play at least some 1B. If he fails at it he fails at it, but not even trying for the sake of the team is disappointing

Give me a break with Casas all for the team ra ra nonsense but ya I agree Devers deserves criticism.
They are also under no obligation to simply accept him saying no. You can tell him instead of asking him.

He’s been their franchise cornerstone the last few years and the team has done nothing but collapse down the stretch. What a surprise when the highest paid guy in the franchises history doesn’t prioritize his team winning despite having more security than all of his teammates
I'm not gonna blame Devers for the Red Sox being bad for a while now. Nope. That's not how baseball works.
Casas has never done anything bad. Never pouted. Never had any whining. He's always been hard on himself. But everyone says he's a great teammate.

I don't like Casas primarily because he's simply not that good and unreliable. His inflated ego and big mouth is just the cherry on top. At least Devers is good.

How about Raffy puts up more than one season with an OPS over .900 before her starts acting like Manny. He would probably get some leeway if he produced like Manny.
That being said, John Henry created this mess by being cheap then overpaying for Raffy because he got boo'ed at the winter classic.
