Red Sox/MLB 2025 Regular Season II

A compelling reason to worry about individual performance before Memorial Day is when it impacts the team winning. Casas another 0-3 but I'm sure his exit velo has been tremendous.

White Sox could be a horrendous 5-16 after today with more than 50% of those wins against Red Sox.

They're half a game out of a playoff spot, and It's April 20th.
Right and they could possibly be a couple games better if Casas performed like people on here expect. They've played the Chicago White Sox 6 times and are 3-3. I don't think you can just toss everything aside and say it's only April. They all count the same and when you open the season with 7 games against the White Sox you gotta take advantage of that.

I was at the game today, so I didn’t hear the commentary but it was kind of odd to see Chapman in the 8th and Slaten in the 9th.

Only thing i could come up with was the scheduled 8th inning batters were lefty heavy…

Did they say anything on NESN or EEI?

I wasn't watching the game, so can't comment on if anything was said, but the White Sox had the top of their order up in the 8th, so it was a higher leverage situation where it makes sense to bring in your closer. Gone are the days where closers only pitch in the 9th inning.

Merloni said it was probably because they were lefty heavy in the eighth. He seems to like the advantage of a three headed closer: Slaten, Chapman, Whitlock. I think I do too, which is a departure for me. I generally prefer stable roles.

Sounds right…I just don’t remember Cora doing it when he’s had a bona fide closer on the roster.

I’m probably wrong about that though.

Mckenzie’s problem is that his shoulder is burnt chicken

Only thing he does well is release the ball closer to the plate than the average pitcher (he’s 6’5 with long arms so that makes sense). Theres nothing to work with. Don’t need him anywhere near the 40 man

Dude is all over the place. Can't throw his curve or slider for strikes. No idea if that's injury related or if his mechanics are all jacked up.
