Alright, deadline has passed and I’m as pissed off as anyone.

But this is the team we have now to try and win it this year, so ITT we show our support for the team and its players.

Let’s go and make them have to pay a tariff to see the Cup this year.

Oddsmakers still believe in us.

What happened to lets give the GM flowers thread?

Yeah I'm not feeling this TDL anymore than I did the disaster offseason.

I'm disappointed by the lack of a goaltender, but only Mrazek moved today. Would have been nice to see them use more of Kane's LTIR (seemed like it was almost none of it? EDIT: looks like they used most of it, my bad). Really, they went "all in" at free agency when JJ handcuffed the incoming GM with NMCs for every signing. Puzzling stuff.

That all being said, I think it was a pretty good TDL, obtaining players they really needed. Walman and Frederic should be great adds and were things they sorely needed. Max Jones could end up being a very solid bottom 6 player

This team is still very good.

Leon Draisaitl is the best player in the league this year.

Brett Kulak has been excellent, playing at the level he is for $2.75M is amazing frankly.

With the exception of the February, lol, this team has not quit on themselves and that should bode well as they put their game back together.

Connor McDavid is still here and he's just the best.

Put on size for playoffs, poweforward on 3 lines

Oilers will be tough to handle

Speaking of power forwards, a healthy Kane will be a big add to this team. We've watched an injured Kane play last year and it really hurt people's perception of him. I think fans forget just how much of a difference maker he can be.

Yes, he's older and might not be as effective as he was in his prime. However, I would bet that he will be better than last playoffs where he had to do injections just to play.

Hes going I think he's going to surprise some people and be highly motivated to prove his worth.

Does anyone remember 2006? After The Deadline the Oilers and Canucks decided who could play worse and get the last playoff spot…. Somehow the Oilers sucked the least (this was with Roloson in net BTW)
Playoffs is what matters! Let’s see what happens, teams can catch fire at the right time.

I raged all day but after listening to the Bowman presser I thought he was brutally honest in his assessment of the team

He is correct that Frederic can play with Leon imo, he will even push Hyman, and it would be at a 3C price. If Walman really is a good 3D for 3.5, It's two value contracts in key roles next season.

Jackson haphazardly gutted the roster, capped out, handed NMC's to the players we need to dump, and we have 3 valuable prospects left. That's what I got out of the presser. I mean Bowman essentially said they swung and missed on deadline day. It was a reality check, we want to talk about goaltending when the team has played well for 30% of the season

From what I remember, Roloson was kinda so-so for the latter part of the regular season, then blew the doors off in the playoffs.

Yes they aren't slower, they play a more puck control game, they try to control the pace.

The issue has been recently, when they've been bad, they've been slow to react and it's made them look slower as they've been on the back foot. Or it's how I see it. It is as a problem, but yeah they aren't a slow team.

Yeah often it's been the brain being slow not the feet being slow this year.

I’m actually looking forward to the rest of the season and the playoffs. This is the fun time of the year for hockey fans. There is enough negative crap going on in the world right now, and the Oilers not getting exactly what I wanted today isn’t even in the top ten. Disappointing sure, but we’ve still got a solid team, with oodles of playoff experience. I’m not ready to write this team off until I’ve seen what they can do in the playoffs, that is what they were built for. We have an improved top 6 D over last year, and quite a bit more adequate D depth as well. For the forwards it’s show time for a lot of the guys, time to ramp it up. If Kane can come back and be close to the level he’s been at in the past, then that’s the best deadline acquisition any team could make. I think the boys will be motivated to take care of their unfinished business from last year. The ride will get bumpy, but that’s all part of the journey. Should be fun down the stretch.
