GDT: 2025 Playoffs - Second Round

if they don't announce Matthews and perhaps others were dealing with injuries they will probably need surgery for than they are truly a screwed franchise

It's not necessarily over. I'd be willing to bet he takes an extremely team friendly deal just to stay in Toronto.

Marner may stay too depending what his wife wants to do. I am not sure he would get a comparable offer though, he won't turn down 30 mill less

And with that, the Tavares era is over. Ending with 0 cups, 0 conference finals appearances, 2 second round losses and 5 first round losses. Happy elimination to all, and to all a goodnight!
Correction -
6 first-round exits and 1 second round exit in 7 seasons
Only 1 first-round win.

No he scored the series winner over Tampa
YES, the Leafs in 7 seasons have only ONE first-round win in 2023 that was against Tampa

2019 first round loss - lost to Boston in 7 games
2020 qualifying round loss - lost to Columbus in 5 games
2021 first round loss - lost to Montreal after being up 3 games to 1
2022 first-round loss - lost to Tampa in 7 games after being up 3 games to 2
2023 second-round loss - beat Tampa in 6 games, then lost
2024 first round loss - lost to Boston in 7 games
2025 second round loss - lost to Florida in 7 games

EDIT - HAHA - yes sorry forgot about the first round this season.

What’s weird here is the ORGANIZATION needs to say ‘no thanks.’
if Tavares was smart he is going to wait and see what Marner does, if Marner leaves than there is probably no reason for Tavares to stay as the Leafs are probably not going to be a cup contender any time soon again, at that point I am sure Tavares is going to decide if he just cares about making money or winning a cup and I am sure both of those things won't go together as no real cup contender is going to offer him a generous contract
