Still cleansing, though.More like a colonoscopy prep.
I actually don't despise him at all. But, the bottom line is that he chose the frivolous, childish path rather than the responsible, adult one. We all do it, but we just hope we don't do it for the big stuff. Here is how we know Richie despises Tavares. This is his only serious post I have ever seen.

I don't even think the chosen path was childish. The childish action was telling the Isles he wanted to stay before the trade deadline, and then changing his mind when it was too late for the Isles' to recoup assets. That's where most of my disdain comes from.I actually don't despise him at all. But, the bottom line is that he chose the frivolous, childish path rather than the responsible, adult one. Disagree. The guy was keeping his options open. That was actually smart.I don't even think the chosen path was childish. I disagree with your disagreement. Tavares's actions was one of a penis membrane.Disagree. The guy was keeping his options open. That was actually smart.
I see it kind of in-between you two.I disagree with your disagreement. Tavares's actions was one of a penis membrane.
You're only looking at it from your set of wishes.I disagree with your disagreement. Tavares's actions was one of a penis membrane.
He kept an available option. Even if it wasn't his absolute first choice, he would have burned it and lost leverage if he had said anything. Do you tell your current employer that you're looking for a new job before you even go on an interview? Or, do you keep that to yourself in case things don't work out in the job hunt?He may well have meant one thing during the regular season then changed his mind. We will never know.
People don’t consider the timeline on this one.I see it kind of in-between you two.
Tavares was tone-deaf and made mistakes in his exit.
But he wasn't just intentionally being an asshole. He had his family, financial future, professional future all to think about... it was a hectic week.
He may well have meant one thing during the regular season then changed his mind. We will never know.
I feel pretty comfortable with it now that the dust has settled and we performed better over the course of his seven year deal. He may never say it, but you KNOW Tavares knows in his heart he made the wrong choice. JT is a competitive guy, I am sure he is absolutely pissed off about how the leafs have performed. It just may not seem like it because frankly, the guy is borderline on the spectrum and seems to emote very little xD
Holding on to hatred isn't worth it. Like Milbury is still around as a pundit talking like he knows a single thing about hockey, and that is aggravating too, but I am not going to let it cost me sleep.
Don't forget the one week wooing thing the NHL had at that time. The Leafs probably had some heart-tugging, multi-media presentation for Tavares with relatively young guys (Dubas and Shanahan) making the pitch.People don’t consider the timeline on this one.
The trade deadline was Feb, Toronto announced Lou was moving on at the end of April, Dubas was named GM mid-May.
That shift alone changed JTs options going into UFA. Arguably, as I have mentioned, there is zero chance Lou signs JT as a UFA if he’s the GM of the Leafs that summer - JT and his agent would have known that.
Once that dynamic changed, the Leafs became an option. Rookie GM, media pressure, the stupid interview window, etc. all worked in his favor.
Do you get tired of being wrong all the time?My god i despise both the canes and panthers. Both should perish.
86 EAST.
Let’s go EDM and DAL.
yea, I was hoping the Leafs would break it up so I wouldn't have to worry about them winning a cup in the next few years, but if the Panthers steamroll past the Canes and get their 2nd cup, I will bet anything they bring Marner and I am sure JT back to go at it againGuess the leafs were great after all.
na he def wants to win a Cup, he thought he would get an easy one riding the coattails of the young core in Toronto, his legacy now is nothing, he has a fan base in Long Island who hates him, and in Toronto they are regretting that contract they gave him and he is almost irrelevant there, he has to have a cup on his resumeAs long as his wife "Aryne" is happy and he can afford all of his health and wellness "amulets", I don't think he actually cares about winning at all.
He's made over 100M in his career. Even with a f*** ton of taxes, he could retire this summer and ride off into the sunset with plenty of dough at the age of 34 with his health and be a father to his kids "Jace", "Axton", and "Rae".
I don't know why I put his children's' names in quotations, those are actually their real names...
This guy is a total squid, if he grew up on Long Island he probably would have been an Herbalife salesman while "Aryne" would be driving around in the pink Cadillac selling Mary Kay.
Brisson played that whole week so well. He did it to whip the Toronto media into a frenzy, which (no shocker here) Mr bad contract negotiator Dubas started his reign of error by falling for it.Don't forget the one week wooing thing the NHL had at that time. The Leafs probably had some heart-tugging, multi-media presentation for Tavares with relatively young guys (Dubas and Shanahan) making the pitch.
Then Tavares met with Lou, and it was like when you're a kid and your parents make you go visit your uncle.
