2025 Playoff Picture: Western Conference Bring Out Your Dead Edition

3 way battle between Calgary, Vancouver, and St.Louis.

Sure mathematically the Blues are still in it but they are 5 points behind and the Flames have 3 games in hand, that's a really big hill to climb.

They play the Canucks this Tuesday and if they want to stay in the race, winning in regulation is something they have to do.

Will be an important trade deadline for West Contenders. Not alot separates the top teams and anyone could best anyone in a 7 game series based on current rosters.

Bumping to say the wildcard situation got a little more interesting in the last 24 hours of Calgary and Vancouver trading with the Eastern Conference teams.

As of the Vancouver trade, the western wildcards are:

Nothing is set in stone but I don't think Colorado drops barring disastrous injury or locker room fallout, which leaves Calgary the team to beat.

Going to speculate that Vancouver doesn't make it as I feel their on-paper roster got weaker (but eliminating the locker room drama will help.)

Utah could make it interesting but a 7 point difference with no games in hand is tough to overcome; Utah has only 1 more head-to-head with Calgary, although they've won the previous 2 H2H matchups.
