A's:
Caufield A-

B's:
Montembeault B+
Dobes B+
Anderson B+
Slafkovsky B
Carrier B
Gallagher B-
Evans B-
Guhle B-

C's:

Beck D
Kapanen D-
Roy D-
Pezzetta D-

Did it fast but I'm pretty happy with these grades.

Suzuki - A (season start prevents it from being a A+)
Hutson - A
Caufield - A-
Slaf - B+
Monty - B+
Guhle - B+
Carrier - B+
Gallagher - B
Anderson - B
Dobes- B
Matheson - B- (good defensively but huge step back offensively)
Dvorak- B-
Evans - B-
Demidov - B-
Heineman - C+/B-
Armia - C+/B- depends on severity of injury
Struble C+/B-
Xhekaj - C+
Savard - C
Laine - C
Newhook - C
Dach - C
Barron - D+
Primeau - D

Either people are being to hard on Laine or just overestimated what he is now a days.

To me he gets a B- because he's slightly below what I expected from him. It's like in high-school when their are different streams/tests depending if your going to college or Uni. Laine is getting a B- in the easier college bound stream.

Suzuki - A+
Our best player since... a long time ago.

Hutson - A+
Expectations were much lower. Even his D is great. We would all love him to be two inches taller but he plays so well within his limitations. A stud.

Slaf - C+
I expected so much more from him. He's just a complementary player right now. He's big and he's still learning. He still has a lot to learn. He'll get there eventually but with the production Suzuky and Caufield had, he should have had over 60 points.

Caufield - A
I love the fact he plays harder and he's able to produce in the playoffs. He's not a one-trick pony anymore.

Guhle - B+
Damn injuries. Great playoff guy. We need another one like him on defense.

Laine - C
Rating him is really hard. What were the expectations? Without him, we wouldn't have made the playoffs. That's why I give him a C.

Evans- B-
I'm not sure about Evans. He got a good run that got him that contract but he didn't produce enough outside of that. Thank God we didn't give him what he wanted.

Gally - B
From buy-out consideration to heart and soul player. I thought he would be healthy scratched a couple times but he always gives everything he has. He makes his contract less horrible, that's for sure.

Anderson - B+
More points than last year in a lesser offensive role. Positive attitude. He's always played hard but, this time, it was in a better role. Nothing bad to say against him.

Matheson - B-
The brain farts are always tough to swallow but we have to admit he brings a lot to the team. Much better defensively than I expected.

Savard - D+
Meh... should have been scratched a couple times, to be honest. His leadership was nice but he was just too slow.

Xhekaj - D
Can't take the next step. Is it his fault? Probably a little. I don't understand all the love he gets from the fan. He's just ok.

Dvorak - D+
We saw in the playoffs he's exactly what we need to improve. We need someone tougher. His defense was fine.

Montembault A-
Maybe still too inconsistent to my taste, which is probably what prevents him from being an elite number one. Often made THE important save that kept us in the games and allowed us to come back in the third period. He's going to be even better next year with an improved team in front of him.

Armia E
I'm probably biased here. I just can't stand him. He has all the tools but doesn't use them. I have no idea how he got 29 points this year. Ok, my bias is too strong. Maybe he's a D.

Strubble C+
Played better than Xhekaj but I would like him to be a SOB and hit more. He's a fine #6 and he's still getting better.

Heineman - C+
He would have been an A before his injury but his lack of offence after that is concerning. I like his level of effort and the fact he can hit. He's a great 4th liner.

Newhook D+
Played better after Dach's injury and I like him more on the 3rd line. So many missed chances, though...

Dach E
Horrible, just horrible. And I like the guy. We saw how much of a problem he was when we started winning after his injury. He got so many chances and did absolutely nothing with them. Not enough efforts to be a factor and it doesn't work with this team. I had high hopes for him but they're now gone.

Carrier A+
Seriously, who was that guy? I've rarely seen a player change a team that much after a trade. The defense improved so much and everybody seemed to find his place. I don't remember him having a single bad game. Always playing safe and doing the right play. The playoffs were a huge revelation.

I'm not here to defend Newhook, but I find he is the guy that get's shit on the most for something that he can't be. Yes, we traded a 1st for him and he isn't becoming an 80 pts guy, but to his defense he isn't a top 6 player in this league and he was asked to be that guy. I think he will be a valuable asset going forward but as a 3rd line player, nothing more... That's what he is

Newhook brings speed & he's good with zone entries but that's about it. Would rather dangle him as trade bait this summer in a package for that elusive #2C

Or people aren't giving grades based on expectations.

It's a silly way to grade imo. Expectations not only change year to year, making comparing grades over time useless, but also change poster to poster. Two posters could have the exact same view of a player's impact but one gives him a C and one gives him a A.

Personally I'd rather keep him to be a solid 3rd line player.. Every contender needs that type of player, and we have him signed for cheap. I would be more pissed if we traded assets for a player like that every year as a rental type adition ....

Suzuki - A+ (Mediocre first half but best in the league after Four Nations. Carried us the last 10-12 games)
Hutson - A+ (Best rookie season I can remember)
Slaf - B- (A good season but I expected more. Shows signs of the player he can be. Needs more consistency)
Caufield - A (Our best player up to Four Nations. Fell off down the stretch. A good year but he can be better)
Newhook - C- (Blew his audition. He's a bottom sixer going forward.)
Dach - C- (Came back too soon. Was improving before he got hurt again. Tragic story. Hopefully he salvages career.)
Guhle - A - (Health keeps getting in the way)
Laine - B+ (Amazing on the PP. Still recovering from injury)
Evans- A- (Terrific in the first half. A valuable penalty killer and defensive specialist)
Gally - A+ (Couldn't ask for anything more from him this year.)
Anderson - A+ (See Gallagher comments)
Matheson - C- (So much talent, yet so frustrating. Time to move on from him.)
Carriere - A (More than anything, he probably saved the season.)
Savard - C- (Happy retirement.)
Xhekaj - B (Developing. I still see him as part of the future)
Dvorak - B+ (Great second half. I think he's gone next year.)
Monty - B (Inconsistent but decent numbers considering the team he's behind.)
Dobes - B (Good rookie year)
Armia - C- (I think it's time to move on)

Except skating and zone entries (that unfortunately lead to nothing because of his piss poor vision), he doesn't do anything particularly well. He's not big, physical. Like, if he was a Paul Byron type of player, okay, that's useful. But he's not even that. He can't be a centre for this time and I think we'll have more than enough options on the wings coming up.

See but I have a different standard for e
Evans vs Suzuki if Evans scored 20 goals 20 assists A+, Suzuki would get a D/F for that same production imo

Yeah I understand the concept, I just don't think it's very useful.

I guess it's all for fun, not utility so maybe I should just shut my trap and let people grade how they like.

We disagree on how to grade, I find the other way less useful as Evan will always get a C/D given his career year will likely be 15 goals.

It's all for fun and a different way of analyzing play
