2025 Offseason Talk

I’m kind of butthurt at how this unfolded. In reality, Rantanen cost us Stankoven and Robertson- two great homegrown talents. Presumably, if the trade had time to unfold properly, there would have been a three way trade involved where Dallas keeps Stankoven and ships off Robertson to a third team. Getting the picks and players back now is just reversing the part of the trade they had to do to make it happen. And even though they could easily shave away at cap space by moving inconsequential players/cap for paltry picks to enable keeping Robertson, they won’t, because it was the plan all along. I don’t like taking our fourty goal scorer for granted, and trading him in for parts when it’s most beneficial for the team. It feels very not like the organization thats been spoken so highly of over the years. It sounds like something Vegas would do.
and hypothetically.. what if they traded Robertson for 4th overall and have enough cap space with a few other tweaks to sign someone like Marner. Would you not do Rantanen, Marner, Hagens/Matrone for Robertson and Stankoven?

They aren't taking Robo for granted it's they don't think his play will hold up over next 8yrs and a grudge from previous negotiations.
If his skating was better or previous negotiations went well they're not going down this road. Hell they probably don't trade for Rants either.

It's amazing that the team that signed 35yr old Pavelski to 3yr term thinks robo won't hold up but didn't sneeze at giving Hintz 8yrs who will be useless once his skating goes. But it is what it is

I love Robertson but I don’t know if his play translates well to playoff hockey. It hasn’t so far and he can get roughed up out of a series. Mikko is obviously a regular season performer and a playoff one.

With that said, NHL teams better come correct when offering for him. I have no doubt that Nill will get a good deal for our scoring winger.

Even when he’s traded, Dumba and Marchment need to go (I think you will see this). Marchment cost us dearly with stupid penalties and at times I was wondering whether it was him or Benn playing for the other team.

I’m fine if they need to move on from Robo but to say it his game has not translated is way off. What more do you want? Very few guys average over a PPG in the playoffs.

Last 3 trips to WCF he had:
2023 - 19 games 18 points
2024 - 19 games 16 points
2025 - 11 games 6 points (5 of the 6 came against oilers in 5 games so round 2 he was clearly paying hurt)

I think his game translates just fine.

Here's the numbers
Robertson
1st and 2nd round ________ ( 3rd round )
2025) 6 0 1 1 _________ ____( 5-4-1-5 )
2024) 13-3-9-12 ______________ ( 6-3-1-4)
2023) 13-2-10-12________________ (6-5-1-6)

Someone else on the team
2025- 13-5-5-10 (4g in 1st rnd) _____ 4-1-1-2
2024-11-2-4-6 _______________________ 4-0-2-2
2023- 13-9-10-19 (5g in 1st rnd) _____ 4-1-4-5

who doesn't get the "doesn't perform well in the PO hate"

Well I can tell you the name from one of the teams hasn't been mentioned yet but the guy has a lot of potential.

I think some may be happy but a majority won't.

The picks in any deal will make some happy too.

Beckett Sennecke would fit this description and Anaheim is a team mentioned in rumors.

But I have a hard time seeing Anaheim moving their 3rd overall pick from 2024.

But... on our end that's an extremely underwhelming name we'd be getting back for prime Robertson.

Why don’t we wait to see what happens for before we make determinations like this? I get people are upset because JRob is a good player but I do that Rantanen deal 10/10 times. Jim Nill is elite at trading and has proven it over and over again. Let’s see how this shakes out

Petrovic, during intermission interview of Texas Game 4, says that he wishes Bichsel was with him playing in Texas, but he has to get his body right.

Sounds like Bichsel was dealing with an injury during the playoffs.

That was part of my reasoning based on Dallasman's description, majority won't be happy because he was a major reach but some will be happy because he's a 3rd overall pick and must have serious potential.
we could just do a bunch of polls of anaheim players and prospects, with yeah and nah and figure out which one we're all against then assume it's that one.
Then do the same for Utah, Buffalo and Maybe Montreal.
Get our 4 players we'll not like and assume it's 1 of those 4

"Hey, Liam, we want to send you down to the AHL playoffs."

"What? I just booked a trip to Greece."

"We want to get you some more playing time. We've arranged a middle seat on Spirit departing in two hours and have booked you a smoking room at the Red Roof Inn."

"Uh.... I can't play. I'm hurt. My upper lower body is injured."

As a Ducks fan, there are 2 players in our organization who would fit the description: Sennecke and Zegras. The fact that he said "a majority" won't be happy has me leaning toward Zegras out of the 2.

Ugh… this Stars team. Even if the Oilers take Florida in 5 or 6 games easily I won’t feel a sigh of relief for them.

The more I’ve thought about it… get a new coach. If Nill can’t find one to hire bring Graham up. We all know Benn will be back next season but would like a new coach to come in and give the C to Rantanen/Heiskanen.
