Rumor: 2025 Offersheet Candidates.

Buffalo has managed to squander not only draft position but cap space and looks like a prime candidate to be fleeced by OS. Peterka and Byram are the bigger ticket guys, but someone like Quinn might be an interesting 1-year option for a team at the lower end of the compensation tier. He's shown enough to flirt with 40-point seasons, could be a snipe with their expected cap hits.

Ryan McLeod is another guy that comes to mind.

EDIT: Didn't realize there were 3 pages of this thread and it had been addressed

Leafs better hope nobody gets froggy and offers Knies around $9 or so.

Considering the cap jump and space some teams will have...plus the type of player Knies is...plus the Leaf cap situation....this seems like the most interesting spot to watch for fireworks.

And yes Leaf fans, I know they could make it work with Marner and potentially Tavares gone (or huge Tav discount). Still seems like the most obvious big offersheet attempt.

Now that Marner's as good as gone, this comment is completely irrelevant.

$26M in cap space and Knies now their top priority to re-sign ... yeah I'm sure they'll "make it work".

$6,871,373 AAV to Vilardi
Jets would 100% match and anyway, that's the 2024 off-season RFA compensation you are looking at with that precise number.

For this summer, it's already been announced as this:

OFFER SHEET AAVCOMPENSATION
$1,544,424 or lessNone
Over $1,544,424 to $2,340,037Third-round pick
Over $2,340,037 to $4,680,076Second-round pick
Over $4,680,076 to $7,020,113First- and third-round picks
Over $7,020,113 to $9,360,153First-, second-, and third-round picks
Over $9,360,153 to $11,700,192Two firsts, one second and one third
Over $11,700,192Four first-round picks

Also to determine the AAV of the OS, you divide the salary by term length or five, whichever is lower.

Pretty sure if you want to get Vilardi out of WPG, you have to be at least at 8 M per year.

I don’t think we see any high dollar value offer sheets this offseason.

Which team has enough cap space AND the ability to ’safely’ throw away a 1st round pick in a Gavin McKenna draft?

Also 7 teams have already traded their 1st rounders in 26. From my perspective the most likely offersheets will be around 4.6m where GM on the receving end is thinking whether he d be better of with this cap + a second than said prospect who is likely a depth player at this stage but still has upside.

Toronto has plenty of space with Marner and Tavares gone, so why wouldn't the Leafs just resign him?

Knies has to accept the offer sheet. He may not.

Rossi and a revenge OS from GM's on St. Louis for Kyrou.
Kyrou already signed an 8-year extension. I also don't expect that GMs from around the league will be eager to sign a retaliatory offer sheet because of what transpired last summer (aside from maybe the Oilers front office). However, with McDavid and Bouchard needing extensions, the time for retaliation is not this offseason.

The only current RFA the Blues have going into next season is G Joel Hofer. I expect Blues would easily match anything up to the second round compensation price. Anything higher and the Blues probably opt to not match and take the offer sheet compensation. I could see Hofer as a potential offer sheet candidate this offseason. But short of the Blues signing Binnington to an extension which is entirely possible, Hofer is slated to be the next starter with the transition occurring over the next 2 seasons.

While I think he'll be signed prior to July 1st, Voronkov for the CBJ would be an interesting case. CBJ does not want to lose him and have a LOT of space, however, pushing up the costs on support players could put CBJ in a future pickle when it comes to re-signing Marchenko and KJ coming off their bridge deals. Both are likely to get PAID, as will Fantilli.

Brain fart on kyrou.

It's too bad the Leafs don't have their 1st and 2nd otherwise they could do the following.

Extend Knies 8M x 8
Offersheet Cuylle 7M x 1
Offersheet Bourque 4.5M x 1
Sign Bennett 7M x 7
Trade Jarnkrok and Kampf
Re-Sign Tavares 3M x 3

The only options on here that any team could easily do is extend Knies and offersheet Bourque. Cuylle gets matched, Bennett probably gets more an an extreme hometown discount with the Panthers, Tavares isn't leaving that much money on the table and trading Jarnkrok and Kampf is definitely possible, but not easy.

If NYR matched Cuylle, that leaves K'Andre Miller exposed for an offersheet. Money is tight in Florida. Not sure if Bennett will take a discount to stay. Tavares can't be worth much these day. He's 34

I think there's zero chance the Rangers choose Miller over Cuylle. Money can be tight in Florida, but we know rumours from insiders is that his likely AAV to stay in Florida was north of 7, and he will get more in offers from other teams. Tavares just had 38 goals and plays center, he's going to get big money offers. He may be willing to leave money on the table, but even Stamkos was unwilling to sign a 4 mil X 8 deal with Tampa, why would Tavares leave even more on the table for Toronto where he's had much less success? Rumours from earlier in the year were an AAV at least double what you suggested to stay in Toronto.

Rossi for sure.

Minny wont match.

Canucks for instance i believe will try to Offer sheet him. Maybe like a 7mil AAV contract. Compensation would be 1st and 3rd. Rossi will probably bet on himself so he wont want to sign to long of a contract. Maybe 7 mil x 4 yrs and it walks him straight to Free agency
