You know what?
Players will clean their locker on monday, get through the exit-interviews. And the majority of them wont give a shit after that and enjoy another long summer and vacation and time with their families. And thats ok. They are humans after all. No hard feelings about that.
I will always remember that picture of O´Reilly sitting in his full gear in the locker after that Game 7 OT loss against the Wild.....
But there lies the problem: I just havent seen this unbridled will, the hunger to go all the way to another cup in those 2 years after 2022. I dont count 2023 because that year we just were not able to compete in any way.
And maybe i should do the same and take this exit as a starting point to stop getting invested too much in this team and game. In the end, its a game, a beautiful game, but there are more important things in life than watching hockey-playing millionaires getting a mental collapse in the worst possible way. And that is not good for my health either......
I mean, were to go from here?
We dont have any picks, so the Draft will be a wash. Hell, we dont even have to travel there with our, what, 3 late rounders left.
We dont have any material left to trade either.
And even a team that has MacKinnon and Makar is not that attractive to Free Agents......Especially after this Game 7 and this total collapse.
The worst loss in playoff-history to me.
Not even that slaughter to Detroit was that bad back then.
Step 1:
This team needs a new headcoach and coaching team. Thanks Jared for the cup 2022 and taking over for Roy knowing it would be a lost season. Thank you for going all the way from bottom to top, but lets be honest, a monkey could have coached this team in 2022 to that cup.
Beside that, our playoff-performances are a nightmare. So Bednar should be gone by Monday. And with him his assistants. Our horrible Special teams cost us not only this series, but the season and best chance to win another cup in years.
Step 2: Wont happen...
Sakic to fire MacFarland. Sakic was the one who brought in his buddy and promised/gave him this job.
Maybe Josh Kroenke steps in after getting sober because he celebrated that Game 7 win of the Nuggets and fires MacFarland.
Talking about the Nuggets: They showed up when the season was on the line. And man, they really showed who is the boss.
This could have been a historical day for Denver. 2 Teams winning their Game 7s.... But one team could not hold their shit together for 12 f***ing minutes.....
Step 3: Players
I mean, the team is basically set. I expect Nelson and Lindgren to walk. But thats it.
Step 4: Bring in mental-coaches for this team. For every f***ing player. Time to adress the elephant in the room.
Losing to Dallas without Heiskanen and Robertson for the 2nd year in a row, cocking away a 2-0 lead with only one period to go and gettin killed by a former teammate in that process.
This is f***ing unbelievable......
