$750k a year is about $180k more a year than most doctor's make. So he just signed a multi-year extension with Denver yesterday for an undisclosed amount. I'm assuming it's over $1 million. The guy is just fine financially and doesn't need to uproot his family for a team spiraling into the gutter or a team climbing out of the gutterSaw an article in 2023 he was making 750k or so, and first time NHL coaches average around 1.5M…. If you’re curious.
Id guess his new extension is in the two comma range. I get all that I just think guys are competitors and they want to compete at the highest level, including coaching. I don't even mean Chicago. I just mean in general. He probably doesn't want to leave his cushy job unless it's for a contender. I don't blame him. If he came to the Hawks and we still finished bottom 5 it looks like he's a bad NHL coach. Not much different of a situation with Boston or NYR or PIT or ANH.
If he's making hundreds of thousands a year to coach that program I get why he wouldn't want to leave. Big assumption that a NHL team is going to give him $5m a year to coach. That'd put him in the top 3 highest paid coaches in the league. I don't know what kind of money some of you are making but $250k+ a year to coach a hockey team for a few decades means you have "f*** you" money. He's already won the lottery, set for life.
That’s not really true. The ability to not worry about money, and the potential to create generational wealth, makes life much easier, and by proxy better and happier.Once you're earning two comma money per year the first number really isn't going to make you any happier.
And he’s making it at an age that doctors typically aren’t…just starting out in practice working the long hours for lower pay. Doctors are the prototype for delayed gratification.$750k a year is about $180k more a year than most doctor's make. Whole lot of miserable rich people out there. And nobody with a $1M+ salary really has to worry about money either do theyThat’s not really true. The ability to not worry about money, and the potential to create generational wealth, makes life much easier, and by proxy better and happier.
If you're not happy making a million dollars a year, you'll never be happy. This mentality is pure cancer. That’s not really true. The ability to not worry about money, and the potential to create generational wealth, makes life much easier, and by proxy better and happier.
If you knew my family you would raise a toast rather than piss on my leg.Just wow.
I did not mean to piss down your leg. It always makes meIf you knew my family you would raise a toast rather than piss on my leg.
Families are hit or miss. I haven't talked to any of my family for over a decade and it did wonders for my mental health. Too much to unload here but let your imagination run wild lol!I did not mean to piss down your leg. It always makes mewhen kids act like 8holes. Sadly I know from my experiences.
So, here's a toast to you.

Completely agree. If you're not happy making a million dollars a year, you'll never be happy. This mentality is pure cancer.
He’s in a unique spot where Denver means a lot more to him than say North Dakota did to Hakstol or BU to Quinn. They honored his scholarship and gave him an opportunity to stay in the game even after his heart problems ended his playing career. I wouldn’t walk away from somewhere that gave me a new lease at life easilyYou don't get into coaching for the money. Maybe he is happy to stay at Denver his whole career. I still think if the NHL comes calling you eventually want the challenge. He didn't dream of coaching Denver when he was playing. He dreamed of lifting the Cup.
His wife just had a baby, it is about spending time with his young family. He’s in a unique spot where Denver means a lot more to him than say North Dakota did to Hakstol or BU to Quinn. One less good job to compete against for the hawks.Q is off the market.![]()
