2025 NHL Playoffs

Kane following John Kreese’s instructions to sweep the leg.

It would be a crime for the most entertaining player in the playoffs to go out in the first round and the most boring team in the league advances.

Hockey gods, don't do it for my hatred of the Kings, do it for everyone else's playoff hockey enjoyment.

Glad Pat recognizes the team is on an upward trajectory and wants to add, but I hope he's watching this series and learning the lesson from Rob Blake. Do not trade the big boy assets yet in order to try and exit the rebuild to contention to early, lest we sit in a half-decade of perpetual mediocrity before possibly having to blow it up again.

They need Kopi and Doughty to retire or move on. As long as they're there, Robitaille and Blake will have an excuse to operate as if they're contenders which they're bad at doing.
They could've moved forward with a focus on developing Byfield, Vilardi, Faber, Clarke, Laferriere, Turcotte, Greentree/whatever higher pick they could've gotten, and a top-ten pick this year and next etc.

Toronto chokes yet another elimination game. This time 0-4. Mitch Marner was... -4 (so was Matthews but since Marner is a FA target...)

LA v Edmonton is so far below the other series in terms of quality in the West so far IMO. Neither team is doing anything in the post-season that would make the likes of Vegas/Minnesota/Dallas/Colorado/St Louis scared.

Winnipeg just have disaster tier goaltending....that Hellebuyck extension is brutal, basically tied in to one of the worst playoff goaltenders I've ever seen when they are competing.

God, Nurse is just so bad. The Kings are only still in this series because of him

He's a serviceable dman, but the contract is ridiculous. But it's not as if they have better options for his minutes either.

I think Bouchard is unfairly criticized and a good player overall, but Nurse is trash

He's just a feast or famine guy, depending on which end of the ice. A bit of a modern day Ozo. If it were me I wouldn't over spend on him this summer, but again it's not like they have alternatives. Consequences of not being able to draft well.

I don’t think Bouchard himself is necessarily an example of not drafting well, but maybe you are mostly referring to other dmen they’ve drafted (or have missed). He was a legitimately good draft choice.

That's exactly what I mean, not having good depth of pipeline means they really have no choice but to sign guys like him and Nurse for more than they probably should, and deploy them in ways they sometimes shouldn't. And you feel like you have to live with their flaws.
