These Caps definitely feel like the redux of their 2016-17 team that drastically overachieved in the regular season (won the President's Trophy) and went out in Round 2 after a scrappy upstart Canadian team took them to 6 games in round 1.

They drafted 3 Dmen in the top 10 and came away with Nurse, Bouchard, and Broberg. Imagine if they nailed just two of those D picks.

And honestly outside of their two stars and Holloway, not loving their forward picks either.

Oilers are worse at defending than the Ducks! They don’t have good goaltending to bail them out.

9 mil a year for Nurse!!!!! Wow that may be one of the worst contracts in hockey. Dude is not a good defender.

But they also serve up a ridiculous number of gift wrapped ones. Every turnover they have is just ugly.

Bouchard is just a disaster and a half defensively. He'd need a dominant DFD partner for me to stomach him on my team.

And Nurse isn't as awful as some say, but he's certainly not what you want to come away with picking a D 7oa.

I mean, maybe if they were like us and finding good D prospects later in the draft, you could be okay with that. But when you can't draft D for crap, you better smash it with those high picks.
