As comical as it sounds, he'd do great here imo. He'll match the intensity of the leaders and he'll buy in defensively. Tampa fans were laughing saying how soft Carter was, but he bought in and laid some of the biggest hits in the Leafs series.
It can work out if; he takes 10M, MT starts on LTIR, Luo becomes a C, and we don't re-sign Benny & Ekky.

At the right price, sure. He's a great player both offensively and defensively. I'm sure we could get him to buy into our system.

marner lacks the key core element - physicality. absolute non-starter.

on top of that, his dad's apparently his agent and the family raked the leafs for max money last contract. he wants 13M.

in short - he's the anti-panther.

He’s not some outlier that a got a cup with us making 1 mil or less and now he can cash in. He will take less than what he can get with someone else because of the “ Florida/Texas no income tax” rule that only the NHL can make happen , but he will stay.

I agree, there were more skeptics, we tried pointing out that Benny can be both a skill guy and a bruiser… ideal playoff guy… but honestly we needed Maurice to bring it all out.

If Mitch Marner wants to play here, and he is willing to take enough of a pay cut that the players' union will be upset, AND Bill Zito thinks it's a good idea to sign him... I'll trust Bill ZIto.

But those things will not be happening.

If he plays on a line with Chucky and Lundell, I think he would buy in to our program, as others have said. The Leafs' direction has been too murky for Marner to play any way other than he's played. He'd have to take a paycut to 10M or less though.

To be fair to Dallas, that's a team that's built around the concept of Oettinger making some saves. Oettinger ain't making saves in this series.
