2025 NHL Playoff Thread (Non-Panthers)

I admit that I don’t watch them during the regular season but so far in these playoffs, the only physical play that stands out us the cheap shots by Nurse and Perry. When Drai gets hit, he can't take it and tries to retaliate.

Watching Florida vs Tampa/Toronto/ and Canes, there is a marked difference in physicality.

I'm not saying they're anything close to us, but anyone thinking we're just gonna roll over them like we're doing with the Canes is in for a ride awakening. Did anyone watch last year's Finals? And they didn't even have Kane last year.

Going to have to keep our sticks under good control, I forgot how often the Oilers flop for calls.
It’s two things:

Just f***ing hit them hard, and repeatedly.

Obstruct and hit and play keep-away from #97 constantly. If the puck is in our d-zone and we get the puck, if there’s no immediate play just dump it out. Deflect his passes and stop his dribbles and dekes by playing the body. Always someone on him, he hogs the puck and loses his cool. Frustrate him and it’s over.

I’m watching the game, and it’s like flag hockey. No hits, except for a few of them. We have more hits in half a period than they do in the series.

They need to constantly beat them up. Hit them every time they are on the ice. You saw it on the 2nd McDavid goal late in the second, Rantanen played the puck instead of putting McDavid in the glass, and it cost them. Let him dance all he wants. Keep him around the outside along the boards, and let him do loop d’loops for all we care. I think they got a good feel for what he does, and what he can do in the blink of an eye, during last years playoffs, and they’ll be ready.

So obviously i am watching this edm dal game as it is euro-friendly time, and i have to say:

1) at first i thought my tv is broken and goes in slow motion. The pace i see in panthers games is whole another level...
2) did somebody told those teams that hockey is actually contact sport and you can hit your oponent here and there ?!?
3) i dont understand what the Dallas gameplan is. It seems that they are just waiting to die.

The Stars have spurts in which they look phenomenal, but mostly what you see is what you get.

I have no faith in the Stars. I know it's easy to say that after one game, but that team has serious weaknesses at the blueline (see: Petrovic, Alex) and their forward corps is overrated.

Then again, I think Winnipeg is a fraud team, too. Edmonton / Vegas / Colorado out of the west, IMO.

^ What I said about the Stars back at the start of this thread. I don't think I'm wrong.

Rantanen showed up to get paid and stick it to Colorado, at least.

THAT SAID, the series is 2-1, and Dallas has a chance to maybe show up on the f***ing road for once and actually even it up here.

Some good stuff going on in the Oilers board. They’re also interested in Taylor Hall again because of his series so far.
