The Leafs need to clear the org. from top to bottom, it needs to be a complete change in approach. What they should be doing is clean slate, new management and considering everything including trading Matthews. They aren't winning with the way the team is currently constructed and the leadership they have in place.

The good thing for the rest of the Atlantic is they just hired Treliving because of his daddy, even though he's an idiot, so they aren't likely to fire him any time soon.

imo probably the only thing they won't even consider. Barkov was deemed to be a disaster choice for a captain, that the Panthers wouldn't be able to win the SC with him carrying the C. The Leafs just need to sacrifice one or two other sacred cows to get the Leafs to the next level but I don't think they have the assets to win the SC with or without Matthews.
