I think with Moore signing we have pretty much got our top 6 D set for the short term and dont need to use a 1st to find another D.

The forwards where we are picking thankfully look good compared to past drafts. Lots of C with size in the top 10 which I can see us selecting.

Seeing how LaCombe panned out because he wasn't rushed, then maybe grabbing 6'6 RD Mrtka and letting him develop without rushing wouldn't be a terrible idea at all. We got lucky with LaCombe developing into a #1D, but we can't hope on being lucky often. Plus, it would be great layering of top d-man prospects if the Ducks do decide to kill several stones with Mrtka into the future.

If McQueen regains form and drops to us and Mrtka is there, then that's a damn good problem to have for us!

Is McQueen's injury a one time thing or is he potentially going to have long term injury issues? A few articles said that's what was keeping him from being ranked with the top guys

The fact that McQueen had hurt his back was maybe the worst-kept secret in hockey. But when it concerns a player who could go in the top 10 in the next National Hockey League draft, the speculation and outright fabrication was dialled up to 11.

McQueen said it was a pars fracture — less colloquially known as spondylolysis — which is a stress fracture of the spine common in young athletes. It’s usually caused by repetitive stress rather than an acute injury.

“I know everyone is going off a disc thing, but there was no disc problem ever,” McQueen said. “It was just a fractured bone that needed some time to heal, and I guess it takes longer for those ones to heal but it’s good now and everything is cleared up.”

McQueen acknowledged there is a possibility the massive growth spurt he had may have factored into the issue as he grew into his lanky frame.

“There are a lot of question marks about how the fracture came about,” McQueen said. “It’s kind of an odd fracture but it could have been that I’m really tall and grew super fast or it could just be after I was really tall my body hadn’t quite kept up with me and my core wasn’t as strong as it could have been. Honestly we’re not too sure how it came about.”

French prospects in the top15 you can be sure Madden will be there to watch !
Not sure if you are memeing or serious, but this has been debunked multiple times. The Ducks don't favor the Q at all, especially in the 1st round.

They have picked one player from the Q in the 1st since Madden took over. They have taken 7 players from the Q in the 2nd round which is the most of any league, but even that isn't close to being favored when you take into account they have selected 10 players from the OHL in the 1st round. Almost 45% of their 1st rounders in that time.

That's not a fair comparison. There are significantly more NHL players from OHL than QMJHL so every team drafts more from OHL.

We definitely like drafting from the Q because of Madden but that would be because he is from Quebec and is more plugged into the local league than other scouts would be.
