Prospect Info: 2025 NHL Entry Draft

guess the guys I’d realistically like to get are
Martone
desnoyers

Don’t think well be in posistion to get misa/hagans

Not a fan of McQueen

Don’t know enough about frondell to make a fair judgment
Whenever I see the name Frondell I think Frozen Dell PC or I think it sounds like the Swedish word for Frozen Yogurt.
I don't see any buzz about him anywhere so that can't be a good thing.
If the Ducks are out of the top 4, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they went a bit off the board and took O'Brien or Smith. Both are rising.
Last time the Ducks had an O'Brien they traded him and then won the cup that year.
Maybe drafting him and then making a big trade in a few years they'll win the cup lol.

Lynden Lakovic has been rising higher and higher, from mid-to-bottom of the first round to being 10th overall in MyNHLdraft and 11th overall in Tankathon. He's a big guy that is still trying to get comfy with his size b/c he doesn't play that physical game and more of a perimeter player at the moment. I think @WhatTheDuck identified him earlier in this thread.

Imagine line combos with Desnoyers:
Zegras/Carlsson/Sennecke
Gauthier/Desnoyers/Colangelo
Vatrano/McTavish/Terry
Sidorov/Proczyn or Gaucher/Masse/Pastujov

A lot of French names in this lineup. Habs will be jealous.

Pronman's ranking is out. He is one of the few rankings that is worth a look and tends to have some picks that are unique. Martone at 5 would be amazing.

Tier 1
1. Schaefer

Tier 2
2. Hagens
3. Misa
4. Desnoyers
5. Martone

Tier 3
6. Eklund
7. McQueen
8. Frondell

Tier 4
9. Aitcheson
10. O’Brien
11. Smith
12. Bear
13. Carbonneau
14. Lakovic
15. Ravensbergen

Starting to look like the Ducks are going to be picking in the 8-12 range. Set your sights accordingly.

They have the 7th pick right now, and they won 1 in the previous 8 before this 3 game run. 3 in a row is nice, but less impressive when you see they beat 3 teams that are even lower in the standings then they are.

I wouldn't hold my breath that they keep this play up. I expect them to be around 5.

You might be right but the team has been much more competitive game in and game out since the Trouba/Fowler switch and I expect that to continue. Getting quality goaltending every night is helping as well. I'm guessing that they'll finish the year at or near the .500 level (barring trades or injuries). That would probably put them in the 7-10 mix. Anything better than that could put them in the 11-12 range. And that assumes a team doesn't jump them in the lottery. Just my $0.02.

5th to 12th Is where I bet they end up at. Looking at the current draft order: St. Louis and Philly are barely better than the Ducks this year, Fowler and Drysdale didn't go to that much better teams.

20 winnable games down the stretch. Chasing teams in front of us.

Calgary x3
Montreal
Stars (without heiskanen) x 2
Redwings
Sabres
Canucks x 3
Blackhawks
Blues x 2
Islanders
Utah
Predators x 2
Rangers
Sharks

12 scary games

Kings x 2
Bruins x 2
Oilers x 2
Capitals
Hurricane
Maple leafs
End the season (maybe these teams clinched and are resting) with 3 straight against (kings right before too)
Avalanche
Wild
Jets

To hit the magic 96 pts to almost guarantee a playoff spot.

16-4 in that 20 game stretch
7-3-2 in that 12 game stretch

Considering that 91 pts might make it this year (what Calgary is on pace for.)

15-5 / and 6-4-2 would get us to 92 points.

Don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just spelling out our only realistic chance to sneak in, not saying it’s likely to happen.

My bet is we go 12-20 in those last 32. Just a gut feeling, but let's see how it shakes out. Comparing to last year's standings that would have us in the 5-8 range.

Year twelve of mock drafts with the same crew, just wrapped up my picks for our first mock draft of the season, after trading our seventh to Pittsburgh for Nashville's 2026 6th...

A couple of other trades affected the placement of later picks so don't get too caught up on that, more just a first look at some mid/later round guys who seem interesting.

1-7 - C Caleb Desnoyers

Top six went Schaefer, Hagens, Martone, Misa, McQueen, Eklund - naturally I was happy to land Desnoyers at seven.

2-55 - LW Kristian Epperson

From daily faceoff who ranked him at #49
"Epperson was passed over after posting mediocre numbers with the U-18 USNTDP team last year – he even got demoted to the U-17 team. But he is a key piece of Saginaw’s attack this year, with the winger expected to put up more than 30 goals and 60 assists. He’s also one of the toughest players on any given shift, playing a bit of a power forward game (although he can be subject to some dumb penalties from time to time). However, his ability to produce while being smart away from the puck makes Epperson the best second-year eligible prospect available."

3-93 - RD Carlos Handel
Saw him live twice at the WJC and his skating makes him jump out right away. Any right shot D who moves that well is going to have a chance.

Daily faceoff had him at #50
"The World Juniors was a perfect opportunity for Händel to show just how capable he is with and without the puck. He was Germany’s best defenseman despite being just 17. He’s not afraid to get engaged on the rush and is capable of leading a power play, too. Händel is producing at half a point per game with Halifax, but scouts have noticed that it didn’t take him too long to figure out how to create and make moves on the smaller North American ice"

4-103 - RW William Belle
Every scouting report on this guy makes him seem like an absolute menace who may be able to play.

As usual, Belle was a wrecking ball. He flipped a Lumberjack into their own bench, one of several big collisions. He's an effective defender. He lines up opponents, but only after guiding them into the wall. With the puck, he has some vision and dynamic elements every now and then. He takes pucks off the wall, attacks the middle, uses east-west movement, and attacks with pace. He's not always finding the best play because he doesn't use space up or consistently make those plays in transition, but he could develop that in time. Not much of an off-puck offensive game in this one, either. The execution and acceleration will have to improve, but it's not hard to see him filling a bottom-six role in the NHL. He's fast enough, very physical, and has the flashes of skill.

5- 135 - RD Roman Bausov
Noticed a huge RHD was in Bob McK's honorable mentions on his recent two round list. Projects as a pure shutdown guy and can be stashed infinitely in Russia while developing, we should make more of these picks.

5- 156 - G Elijah Neuenschwander
Huge Swiss goalie ranked seventh among European goalies by CSB. Has strong numbers on loan in their second division pro league, although had a bit of a rough showing at the WJC in a small sample.

6- 167 - C David Granberg

Double overager but I thought he was one of Sweden's top players at the WJC. Good size and a great skater, played a smart two way game with urgency. He's full time in the SHL this year as a junior after captaining his J20 team with great numbers last year. Leave him over there to mature for a couple years and he may be a potential character center.
