Haven't followed this years prospects too much yet but from my limited viewings I take Martone every day of the week before Misa.

Only reason to take Misa over Martone is the center aspect. But Martone brings too many qualities we need as well.

Slaf is big and will be strong but he doesn't have the nastiness of Martone.

It just puts a lot of pressure on Dach finding his game and Hage hitting as a 2C.

You'd also be at Demidov Laine Slafkovsky Caufield Martone at wing so you'd be most assuredly be moving on from Laine.

I still think as of right now there's a notable drop after the top 4 prospects of Schaefer, Martone, Hagens and Misa.

I love Caleb Desnoyers (In my top 10 right now) but he's certainly not at the level of these top 4 players. McQueen is hurt until he comes back and proves he can stay healthy, he's not going to be included with these top 4. I would need to see more of Frondell so hopefully he plays at the WJC.

Look out for Justin Carbonneau, he's be scoring fantastic pace lately with 20 goals and 22 assists in 26 games. I don't think he will go top 10 (more than likely top 20) but it's still great production from a draft eligible player. Carter Bear is absolutely ripping it up right now too.

Moving on from Laine is not a problem. In all likelyhood, he should produce up to next season's TDL and he'll bring in quite a haul.

looks like Hagens is slipping down the rankings a bit and Misa is moving up?

FWIW, I wouldn't necessarily say Hagens is slipping, it's more other players are trending up. He's having a good start to his season all told, just not spectacular the way a consensus 1st OV is expected to have. I rate him the same way I did before the start of the season in any case, he is what he always was.

From my YouTube viewings (take it for what it’s worth), when you compare the two, you notice a big gap in involvement. Misa is balls to the wall and has a speed and shot that seems outrageous. Plus the size is easily in his corner.

On the other end Hagens looks very cerebral, great instincts but doesn’t gel as much with Leonard and Perrault ( in the 1st OV sense). He makes some quality passes that just blows your mind. I think the “Quick Look” favours Misa but that’s just a short answer. Both will bring the heat in the NHL no doubt.

Schaefer and Martone invited to the World Junior Selection camp and McKenna also invited for 2026 draft.
