I need to ramp up my 25 draft reading.

I watched a video from Chris Peters at FloHockey and Can Robinson at elite prospects giving player comps

Only top10 guys so likely no one caps can get but still interesting. I certainly haven’t watched all these guys play but you get a sense of their style and profile with the comps

Schaefer —> Doughty / Heiskanen
Misa —> Seguin
Martone —> Bertuzzi
Hagens —> between Cooley & J Hughes
Frondell —> Horvat or Elias Lindholm.
McQueen —> Tage, Johansen, or Wheeler
Desnoyers —> Monahan, some Hischier
O’Brien —> Pettersson
Martin —> Bennett / Kadri
Mrtka —> Tyler Myers / Adam Larson

Kindel is someone I’d trade up a few places to get.

Does anyone know the equivalent draft pick value of picks 27+37?
According to this site below it should be worth around 16th OA.

Which team could trade one of their 1st rounders?

Montreal have the 16th & 17th OA
Columbus have 14th and 20th OA
Flames have 18th and 31st/32nd OA
Flyers have 6th, 22nd and 31st/32ndOA
Nashville have 5th, 23rd and 26th OA
Chicago have the 3rd and 25th OA

What would be the lowest pick you’d trade up for using 27 + 37? I’d say Colombus 20th OA would be my target.

This is not the draft to trade up in. Too much of a drop off around 15oa, all the teams you listed are almost certainly trying to move up themselves and not back

Agreed. Unless we can move up a lot (like to top ~13) which doesn't seem realistic, I'd rather get two prospects.

Interesting comps. I wonder if Bennett and Kadri’s playoff successes push Martin up when all is said and done.

Also, I feel like Bo Horvat and Elias Lindholm are not the same type of player. That’s a weird duo to pair together.

Yeah they said Frondell is difficult to comp and project. He’s pretty divisive. Could he be a scoring 2C like Horvat?

Or is he a complimentary guy who plays well with good players but struggles to drive the bus on his own, like Lindholm?

I actually disagree though I agree with your premise. With 'weak' drafts, boards can vary more widely than they normally would. If someone top 10 on the Caps board drops to 15-20, I would absolutely consider trading up, and that's far more likely in this type of draft where team rankings are going to be all over the place.

Of course, that will also have be weighed against who might be available at 27 and 37.
