2025 NHL Entry DRAFT Thread

No! But as a compromise the Kings have offered to turn Greentree, Ziemmer, Connors, and Conmy into 4th liners for you?
One step at a time!

Greentree is going to have to learn the system and pay his dues by riding the bus in Ontario before he is put next to Helenius and Turcotte on the Kings 4th line.

ETA: 2027-2028 season

so where do the kings draft this year.
Won't know for certain until the next round is completed. 29-30 goes to the semifinalists who lost. 31 goes to the Stanley Cup finalist. 32 goes to the Stanley Cup winner.

If multiple teams below the Kings in the standings make the final four, then that pushes them down.

If the final four is Washington, Toronto, Vegas, and Winnipeg/Dallas, then the Kings would pick 27th. For each person below the Kings who makes the final four, they'd be bumped up one.

So the range is 23-27.

Only 5-foot-11, too. He might be 6-foot-1 or 6-foot-2 by his draft year in 2027.

I just hope he doesn't get so hyped that he fails to meet unrealistic expectations and thus loses value.
Just don't see that happening...his Dad has been mentoring him all the way Landon is going to make some NHL team extremely Happy...he has Numbero Uno RD-man,PP QB written all over him...love to see the Kings shit the bed in 2026-27 and get Doughty's heir apparent

Kings are currently at 27. For every team below them in the standings that advances to the conference finals, they will move up a spot. So they could end up as high as 23 if EDM, STL or COL, FLA, and CAR all advance past the 2nd round.
All will advance save for St Louis so...24th

Once a lot of these kids get to college and realize they actually have to take a few classes and study they'll be right back to juniors! I truly wonder what admissions standards they are being held to b/c a lot of these kids are not brain surgeons intellectually.
And NFL players,NBA are no Einsteins either...They'll take classes like the Football/Basketball players...Grass growing,Paint drying...type

Guys like that you walk away from and don't risk assets. You know he's gonna demand a spot on the top 6 and pp time. Sounds like a Rutger McGroarty situation all over again. Hard pass.
I don't see anything wrong with players choosing a destination where they are going to most successful...You have a choice where you work right

Hopefully seeing how Kuzmenko has been playing right now will open their eyes to different style of players they draft. The Kings need to shoot for some highly skilled guys that don't fit their normal drafting molds.
Like to see LA go over to Russia and drafting kids there that will wait 4-5 years(Kaprizov) and be absolutely ready rather than 1-2 years when if they are not Michkov ,Ovechkin,Malkin and Demi-God are not ready

There's a presale for the draft here in LA, tickets going for about $83 after fees.

Having attended the 2010 draft, I'd suggest anyone interested in going to save their money. It's extremely boring being in attendance. It's much better watching from home.
I imagine it's even worse now without every team's draft squad in attendance.

A lot of mocks have us grabbing Sascha Boumedienne and I dig it. Also some Jack Nesbitt, some Cole Reschny, Jack Murtagh, Billy Zonnon. In other words, guys who compete and are probably at least bottom sixers but with some top six upside. And some talk of maclom spence as a wildcard because of his inconsistencies.

Only one out of that I don't think the Kings are considering is Zonnon. They just don't draft players from the Q that often or that high.

The rest are definitely on my radar and I'm trying to decide who to land on first, because I've watched them, but want to rewatch some more so I can write a focused article on them.

I'm personally not a big fan of the Q period

Zonnon is more interesting to me than most as most Q players are drafted for raw offense, I think he's multidimensional, plays a hard nosed game, and is still pretty raw

This is the worst part about draft rankings for the playoffs. Edmonton beat the Kings but will draft ahead of the kings due to this rule. It's something I hope they would have changed already.

If you make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs than you shouldn't be drafting ahead of any team that got eliminated in the first round.

I get the sentiment, but in general, am satisfied with the overall structure.

Imagine being a wildcard/No. 8 seed and you beat the President's Trophy winner in round 1, but you lose in round 2. Your No. 17 pick becomes No. 21 and you jump over 4 teams just by winning 1 round. It kinda sucks.

No system's perfect, and if I were to tweak the system, I'd have more lottery picks just to further disincentivize tanking.

The draft is supposed to be how all teams finish the season including those in the playoffs. So if the 8th seed beat the 1st seed that's fine. They went farther in the playoffs so they should get a worse pick. Why should the draft order only change for the final 4 teams and not all teams.

And they would jump over 8 teams not just 4. So they would go from 17 to 25.

And I'd go with the gold system with some tweaks if we are changing the draft to stop tanking. It will also make the TDL less exciting but also very expensive on trades that will hurt cup chasing team more in the future.

You're right, my math was off, it's 8.

LIke I said, I get the sentiment. I just think there are other tweaks to the draft/lottery that are higher priority to me.
