Exactly this. I could see some movement happening with the top end of the draft this year, which doesn't usually happen, just because of how level the prospect field seems to be after the first pick, and how the two lottery winner teams arriving on the scene sort of shakes up some preconceptions. But I wouldn't get into that game of trading up. The kind of price we'd have to pay to move up would just be silly. The player we get at #5 is going to be just as good as whoever goes #3 and 4 at least, and any extra premium to chase Misa at #2 would also take a lot more faith in him panning out than I think we should have.
Now, the flip side is if we're dead set on picking "outside the box" ourselves, please do trade DOWN to do it. Don't make some clever off-the-board pick at #5 if you can get that same player at #8 or #10. I am frankly more worried about us getting "clever" and being the team that takes McQueen or Mrtka or somebody else too soon at #5 while Hagens is sitting right there. Let other teams over-think this. If Hagens drops to us at #5, just take him. No need to over-think it.
