Isn't it just top-10 protected? If it goes to next year, that's because TB drops back so far that it's a top-10 pick? I don't really see them falling that far out of it. If they miss the playoffs, it'll be just barely, so we'll get the pick. Best case maybe it's like a #14. Worst case maybe like a #18. But it's going to be this year either way, right?
Yes, unless Tampa falls into the bottom 10.

Yeh it is top 10 protected. I have a hard time seeing them dropping into the top 10 this far into the season. It is possible though. Right now theyre up 5 points and have games in hand on 22nd place in the league. But theyre also just outside top 3 in their division with games in hand there as well. Probably more likely they end up top 3 in their division then top 10 pick

Right now im hoping Vegas just doesnt win the presidents cup and loses in the 1st round.

I think we're starting to lock down at least a top-10 pick in this draft.

The Sharks and the Hawks are obviously going to be the bottom-two.

We're only a few points back from Sabres, Kraken and the Ducks. These team I can see us passing.

Who knows what's going to happen in PIT. They might fall off. Same goes for the Canadiens.

Blues and Utah will probably stay ahead of us.

Both New York teams are figuring it out and will get close to the playoff line.

Worst case: 8th pick

Most likely case: 3rd pick

worst case scenario we end up with Fronded, Eklund, Martone (he will fall) maybe Desnoyers ( I think he goes 4 OA) or Mcqueen ...all which would be great options

If we end up at 3 OA do we go Misa or Hagens?

I believe this is correct.

Blake is Vern Fiddler’s kid! :eek3:
Oh you know we are taking him then. Get ready.

I would be content with either Frondell or Martone. Eklund's a smaller winger and at this draft, we need to target premium positions. Desnoyers has some question marks in his game and is harder to evaluate because he plays in a lower-level league.

As for the top-3 pick, I'd go Hagens over Misa but could be convinced otherwise as well.

I haven't looked at any of them enough to choose yet, but I am at least happy to see the rise of Schaefer to the consensus #1, so we won't actually have to pick first to get the guy we think is the best C, and even if we picked #3 one of Hagens or Misa would be there.

I'm pretty confident San Jose would take Schaefer anyway. Chicago is probably still in a "needs everything" mode, so I don't know. :dunno:
