2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

I think this goalie prospect has a lot of Carey Price in him, could be the next star goalie. I would absolutely take him in round 2 and also sign the U Maine goalie as an NCAA free agent. Chances are that Bussi goes elsewhere next year and maybe even Dipeitro, they have Sevdberg who looks pretty good, but goalie depth is something they need.
Svedeback has decent numbers because of a strong defensive team.

Some of the goals he allows leaves you shaking your head.

Fixable? Probably, but i wouldn't say he looks pretty good. Maybe average.

They absolutely have to add to the goalie pipeline.

Totally agree Dom, I think Bichel is more a depth guy, Svedberg needs AHL time, with Bussi and maybe Dipeitro moving, there will be a spot for him there. If you add a stud goalie prospect like Ravensbergen, he can still play Junior, then you add Boija, he becomes the other AHL goalie and he could push for an NHL job.

Lottery or Top Ten, here we come!

seen a few live this year, that Jackson Smith kid posted 5-6 assists in the first two games vs the Royals this year , terrific puck mover, plays with some bite but no snarl but most importantly, RHD

Schmidt is a small kid but a waterbug and plays with grit, ridiculous hands and playmaker along with finisher

Mrtka a giant who moves well, think of Carlo but with much better offensive game

Cootes of Seattle a nice kid but the B`s will have the chance to pick a stronger player than he is with where they will be sitting

Reschny I`ve watched all but maybe a dozen of his games, what he does away from the puck is as valuable as what he does with it, a +30-40 if not mistaken, he gets the toughest D matchups from opponents and when it`s shutdown time for the Royals, he`s on the ice, I don`t take him in top 10 though as much of a man crush I have on the kid

Thank you for the scouting report.

hey, don`t go by my eye, I`m the guy who thought Jordan Caron would be wearing the C on his jersey by this time :)
There's a blast from the past.

I am not a stats maven, much less a fancy stats freak, but I believe about 18% of draft selections make the NHL, in aggregate. It's something relatively low like that.

So, every club has its issues, and yes it's the luck of the draw, but take a look at Detroit's draft selection history in the early to mid 90s, even into the 2000s.

That organization knew what they were doing. So impressive.

Hence, it is less than surprising to me that General Manager Jim Nill has his Dallas Stars in a strong position to win it all this year.

He learned from some of the best, and not simply relative to drafting.

Look no further then the Rantanen signing. (Who was okay going Carolina. Until he wasn't.)

No one asked, and I am not a betting man, but the West boasts Dallas, Colorado, Edmonton, and Winnipeg as likely Cup 🍶 contenders.

The East, much weaker, still has some sneaky thieves who might steal the prize.

Keep your eyes on Carolina, Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Washington and, everyone's favorite team, the Panthers (Brad or no Brad),

well said, our friend Dom has forgotten more about the game than I`ll ever know. I`ve seen players I thought would be nothing go onto solid NHL careers and others I have seen that I thought were can`t misses in the sense that they would have solid careers, might not be superstars but...

When it comes to a kid like a Reschny, his skating will need a touch of work but his hockey IQ is so high he reads plays before they materialize, he`s already exceptionally responsible in all 3 zones, plays in all game situations. He makes players around him better. As great of a junior player he is becoming, I think, right now, he`s likely a solid 3rd line C and with work, tops out a 2 C. I don`t spend a top 10 draft pick on a potential 2/3 C, I go hunting for a 1

Now, if he`s still available when the B`s pick in round 2 (unlikely), if he`s the BPA, I take him

I simply don`t see enough games outside of the WHL/BCJHL , there is a kid I freaking love on the Grizzlies (BCJHL)
Regan Hiscock, heading to Cornell I think next year, wheels, great hands, great hockey IQ, size, loves the front of the net, bangs, crashes, needs a bit of work defensively but a consummate hustle, will take a hit to make a play as you`ll see on one of these goals
