2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

Do you like him better than Hensler?
I’m honestly starting to, yeah. I think you have to do a lot of projection with Hensler. He’s older for his draft year, but he doesn’t really excel at anything, and it would be hard for him to in the league he’s in. I think his skating and defensive skills are overrated, and if you take those away then what is he?

With scrabble it’s all right there. He’s a good piece on a good team. I like his skating and the physicality is better than what you would expect from this type of player. He’s well-rounded.

Hensler is to Kessel as Brzustewicz is to Jiricek. I think that’s kind of where I’m at on them in terms of style comps.

I don’t. I have Hensler over Mrtka. Far better competition. Mrtka isn’t very quick and loses board battles consistently. He isn’t bad offensively, but…. Henry is pretty good. I think he goes higher than people think having decent size, righty shot, and good program. Henslers competition level is what separates him. Good player.

Bedkowski is the sleeper. He will play a lot of nhl games.

That’s funny.

If we end up picking #18 Braeden Cootes might be our guy. He is a center.

At 18; Brady Martin and/or Malcolm Spence might still be available.
Nothing against Cootes, but I do like those two more.
I also might be inclined to go for Ryabkin in that range given the depth of our system(admittedly he's a boom/bust pick but the upside might be worth the risk as you get closer to 20).

Also possible Carter Bear slips to that point with the injury.
That also might be around the point where the late run on defensemen starts since there aren't a lot of good ones available.

It's really a crapshoot once you get past pick 15. We just don't know how the picks are gonna fall.

I maybe willing to trade the pick for more picks if someone has their sites set on someone. I can’t remember the guy who had the same injury a few years ago, but he didn’t comeback the same. I wouldn’t mind Spence (gone by then?), but if I could make a deal and get a Zonnon/McKinney/ Hillstrom/Brustewicz and a top 10 goalie with the picks….I don’t think I did much different with my first and added a player in the 3rd.

I Agree I prefer Martin but I think he will be gone by then.
