Pre-Game Talk: 2025 NHL Draft Thread

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. I think if the Blues are in the 10-15 range they should be looking at Brady Martin…could be a very good, playoff-type center in the NHL. His numbers are starting to pile up for a very mediocre Soo Greyhounds team, and he’s a future middle-6 center which a team can never have too many of.

I like Martin, O’Brian, Bear and Spence in the 12-15 range.

Logan Hensler, D, Wisconsin (NCAA): Hensler, who averaged 12:12 of ice time in seven games for the United States at the 2025 WJC, has good size (6-2, 192), strength and smarts. The right-handed shot has 11 points (two goals, nine assists) and 22 blocked shots in 27 games as a college freshman.

Pronman with an updated list out today. 2025 NHL Draft ranking: Matthew Schaefer, Michael Misa lead Pronman’s March top 32 list

Desnoyers keeps moving up in these lists. My hopes of somehow getting him are continually getting dashed..

Yeah I think Desnoyers is going to be out of reach. I expect us to land anywhere between the 12th and 18th pick. Truth is the talent in that range doesn't really blow me away. I know we don't really have any other picks in the draft and I am fine with that given the weakness of talent this year. I still think we have to consider trading that pick with maybe a plus to go after a young cost controlled talent. There has been smoke on so many quality young RHD that we could potentially target. Our 1st+ for Dobson, Clarke or Nemec.

Malcolm Spence may still be around or Logan Hensler MAY fall. They could always reach for someone that plays really well at world Juniors down the middle.

Not big on Spence myself and Hensler is RHD with pretty good size in a draft that is light on defense especially in the first round. Someone will reach for him in the top10 to top12.
