Who should we pick 3rd overall (assuming Schaefer and Misa are gone)?

Draisaitl was also sent back to junior his first year even after he played past the 10 games allowed iirc, its not like these guys were sure things from the start

the optionality in the range of outcomes for Frondell might intrigue them for sure...maybe they see it as he ends up on Bedard's wing and can be a Drai type scorer with Bedard's exceptional playmaking, or they see it possible he ends up a Barkov/Kopitar type center and they can kick Bedard onto his wing and let him be a Kane/Kucherov type winger, start with him at C and see where it goes
who is our best for sure center prospect I think bedard is going to end up at Wing. Nazar might be a better winger as well. So its Moore who some say could be a wing. Boisevert probably is the best which is 2-3 C and Greene is next who is a 3-4 center. the reality is We need a center with this pick so that comes down to Misa if he falls, Des or Frondell. Bedard needs a Center that can shoot the puck and can fight on the boards plays 2 way. that sounds like frondell. top 2-3 shoot in the draft, goes to slot and net alot. and is considered one of the best defenders in the class. more then likely next year might be out last in the top 6 in the draft. hopefully we hit around 80 pts end up around 4-5th worst in record. and get a true # 1 center next year.

agree with you that Bedard will be better off on the wing long term, I think and have thought Nazar can be a really good two way center, so either Bedard plays with him or Frondell...if Frondell ends up on the wing then you try to find him a center in the 2026 draft and play Bedard with Nazar, but there is probably like a reasonable chance he just sticks at C anyway

No nooo noo. Not nearly enough offense.
only 6 of his pts came on the PP and he has as many SHG as PPG (2) teows was considered a elite center in his prime and AVG about 45-50 non PP pts in his prime. Lundell is trending as a elite # 2 center. in a weak draft if we end up with a ST caliber # 2 center Im fine with that.

Hes not an elite #2 center. Hes a good 3C as a 23 year old. I definitely want more from a 3rd overall in any draft.

I don't really get why some of you guys are of the belief that Bedard is better suited at the wing in the long term. I get that he has not shown yet that he is capable of consistently generating offense when matched up against a Nelson or Schenn. If you think from the perspective of best deployment of his strengths, I believe center is the most attractive option.

His vision, his skill, his processing in the top percentile and I want the puck on his stick. I would want (to see on my tv at least) him getting the puck and having the burden of decision making in zone exits and in transitions. I do not ever want him as F1 on the forecheck as so often is the winger, I want him as the trailer reading the ice and anticipating the best play. His defense and his skating and his strength will continue to improve and he will become better on the dot. A center also requires the trust of the coaching staff and his personality and approach to the game suggest he's as capable of any of those borderline guys to get there.

He needs to go work with Marchand Crosby and MacKinnon one summer do develop that battle-and-playmaker skill down low and on the wall....but if he doesn't ever excel at battling down low and along the boards we can compensate for that with an elite power winger (Martone!)

Agreed and he benefits from matchups and good wingers that the Florida lineup affords him.

Also of note: Desnoyers dealt with injuries to both his wrists since November which he played through. Kinda crazy he was still as good as he was. But it’s going to come down to him vs Frondell despite Musto’s pleas against it.

If Eklund is an inch taller and 15 pounds heavier he is ranked the same or higher than Frondell no? The playmaking, transition game, and the skating are superior and Frondell's shooting advantage nullified by Eklund's ability and willingness to make plays around the net.

I think he's the most underrated player this year.

He has so many good and impactful projectable tools. The transition game, the confident puck handling, speed and most importantly the feistiness.

I think he will surprise people, because those above tools lend to actual play driving and top impact that makes other players better.

Also a huge plus that his minutes in the finals only increased, compared to Frondell for example who went down to 2-3 mins a game. At that age and size to be trusted that much is a great indicator for what is to come once he matures both skill wise and physically.

I'm still holding out hope we can somehow draft him. I'd take him top 5.

I think Lundell is trending to be much more than a 40 point player when Bennett leaves and he steps into the 2C role
I said trending toward elite # 2, Bennett is a eilte # 2 center and had 6 more pts only 1 more at EV strength then lundell. Lundell PK, wins faceoffs at super high % for a 23 year old. he Hits and he plays D. you cant just look at pts and not how a player effects wins. 31 other fan bases thought Kane was by far or best player. He never PK. Was always kept away from the other teams best Line, and had huge PP numbers.

If you're putting up forty points as a shutdown 3C from the age of 18-23 you're a rock star. If he was North American he'd be much higher regarded.
