2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

Who should we pick 3rd overall (assuming Schaefer and Misa are gone)?

I like him on wing. :dunno:

Thing about his one timer is not just that it's a rocket, he can rip it skating in different directions with little space or lots of space without sacrificing velocity. He doesn't have to circle around waiting and get his body in a particular position, boy can fade back at any moment and launch.
I too like him better at wing. I think he would be a perfect player for Bedard. They would create that McDavid/Drai dynamic. Bedsy has all world vision and creativity and Frondell has the ability to find the soft spot and drift the puck.

What center in the NHL is mediocre at passing and requires others to create shooting opportunities for them?

Frondell is a wing

Usually if you take onetimers you need there to be someone passing the puck? Or is there another way to do that?

Also he is very good at finding open space to be free to shoot which is a skill in itshelf. Even Matthews has Marner feeding him pucks and I'm not saying Frondell is anywhere near Matthews level prospect. Hockey is team game just look at Bedard, every player needs help.

What comes to Frondell passings its not as bad as you make it out to be.

Nothing wrong with him playing wing.

But people will be disappointed if they're expecting a legit center.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

Eklund does all the creation for him.

Where did I say he is only onetimer guy? Just said for onetimers you need a passer. Frondell scores other ways too. But onetimer is a good option as you make goalie to move side to side. Why make life harder for yourself.

Also Frondell has good amount of assists so not a one trick pony.

That's one way to look at it.

I think he's a learner and not an improviser, a system player. Whomever he clicks with it will take reps for it to happen. He's not a guy who goes in cold to a situation and takes advantage of the chaos.

Either way it's a fun draft no matter who we take. If some guys pan at or don't in the future it doesn't feel like we're losing out on a generational prospect in favor of a lotto ticket beyond the hyperbole of a few.

And as good as next year looks already, there might be some draft year wild cards who push themselves to the top. I think team building will play into this (and last) year's top draft choice.

I would bet that most of those who voted Martone would actually prefer the power forward game of Frondell. Martone is a better play making Strome; though he might even be a worse skater.
They do seem similar on offense. Can Martone play some defense or is he below average too? I don’t see too many defensive highlights really

If we start calling Frondell a power forward with a heavy shot, then I think that would change some perception around him

He plays D like you would expect a kid of his talent. Lapses in assignments, though that isn't rare for CHL. His pace of play hurts him the most, he has a good stick.

Bader also commented that Nazar will be a 45 to 50 point player , projecting similar to Kailer Yamamoto . He also projected Nick Lardis will be Andrew Mangiapane . Not sure I agree with this style of comparing . Frondell Bubbles to the Top of this draft class . Byron Bader Blasting Blackhawks Becoming Bitter !!

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, lol. But it's interesting to watch a young prospect in an older league with supporting minutes play his style of game with some modest success rather than be bumped up because of razzle/dazzle.
embrace the delusion - bedard, mckenna, nazar, frondell, rinzel, levshunov, vlasic, knight will be the future core and all star level players
