2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

Who should we pick 3rd overall (assuming Schaefer and Misa are gone)?

Draft year.

D-1 is nearly irrelevant.

At a young age, these guys change so much. You want the most recent data possible.

Imagine taking Nolan Patrick 1st overall because of his great D-1 year, and completely ignoring his disappointing draft year.

Kind of a silly argument because neither Misa or Hagens are projected to go 1st but rather 2nd/3rd (which is where Patrick went anyways) and part of why Patrick's production was down in his draft year and why he didn't live up to the billing was because he was chronically injured.

Hagens was a PpG freshman in college and a top forward for the US at the WJC.

Tim Stutzle was 14 on Bob's preseason ranking.

He was 2 on the final ranking.

D-1 years don't matter.

Wow! I was hoping and posted Edmonton Carolina Dallas and Florida as the final four teams…this would give Chicago the 25th(Toronto) pick in round one…while no series is over yet, all four just need one more win! If Edmonton make the finals then Chicago would get 62nd(Dallas) pick in round two

Go Oilers!
Go Hurricanes!
Go Stars(sorry Winnipeg)!
And let’s go Panthers!!!!

It’s be great if the Hawks drafted 3, 25, 34, 62, 66, 98 and 107(NYRangers)

like just to be clear, because i want to make sure everyone is on the same page before people get mad at me for pointing out the chronically wrong dishonest guy is wrong and/or dishonest again, but it does not follow logically from the premise that prospect draft rankings change from the start of the year to the end that d-1 seasons do not matter whatsoever when considering a prospect.

Another 2 assists so far tonight for Desnoyers. One pretty lucky but it was right after a teammate whiffed on a wide open look in the slot that he created on the rush so we'll give it to him. Moncton looking to go up 3-0 on Rimouski

Stutzle was playing German u20 hockey in his D-1 season.

Also, no one is saying you make your pick based on a player's D-1 season. Hagens did not have a bad year by any stretch and looking at how he's played over the last two years it seems like there is an overreaction to "merely" a PpG freshman season and an adjustment to bigger, older competition. He's not as physically advanced as Celebrini or Fantilli, who had easier adjustments to the NCAA.

then I have no idea what point is trying to be made on your end

Well, for one, you kind of ignored the rest of the post.

Hope this helps Kevin!

Desnoyers and Boisvert can be the new French connection.

But I didn't say Hagens had a bad year, so once again what's your point?
