2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

Who should we pick 3rd overall (assuming Schaefer and Misa are gone)?

yeah I'm very confident Potter would've outproduced Giacomo Martino lol

Aaron Schwartz out-produced Potter this year in the NCAA. Appealing to the no-name status of a player doesn't really help Potter when countless no-names outscored him this year in that league, just like Giacomo Martino would have out-scored him in the USHL.

a 21 year old?

Potter was 18 most of the season, and in the second half of the year he was producing at a higher rate than your Aaron Schwartz.

Y'all take Musto entirely too seriously. At least his autistic ramblings aren't in Newfi gibberish like me b'y, Fiddy. Settle down.

I'm settled but I can't wrap my mind around someone seriously saying they'd take Cullen Potter over Martone or Hagens. That's too wild to ignore. Especially from a "scout".

Nobody ever said that.

Martone is my BPA.

Though I would take Potter over Hagens.

Guaranteed Davidson is falling in love with Desnoyers during the Q final. He was great again, two assists, quite the playmaker actually.

I wouldn’t be shocked if the Hawks sent some scouts to the memorial cup to get a closer look at him, if they aren’t already.

3A all told, including on the game winner in 2OT. All primary too. He created chance after chance in OT. I won't say he can be Toews or anything like that but I think he has that heart and soul quality to him that people are absolutely going to love wherever he ends up.

Right now where I'm at: my head says Martone but my heart says Desnoyers. Would be really excited with either of them

Oh I am sure they have scouts there and yes Caleb is making a huge impression. KD is no doubt drouling

Here's my list of names I will accept at 3 (aside from Schaefer/Misa, obviously):

Porter Martone, Cullen Potter, Kashawn Aitcheson, James Hagens, Roger McQueen (if somehow they get an encouraging medical report), Caleb Desnoyers

If it's literally any other name, Kyle needs to be fired.

Out of curiosity. If Kyle and his staff come out with other name what makes you think they don´t have more info about the players than you?

I know you´re fooling a bit or least I hope so. Everyone has their opinions sure but it is hard to discuss here if I or anyone else disagrees with you our opinions get knocked out. But your views are seen like universal truth. Don´t act like you know better because you don´t.

For sure Desnoyers is hitting me in the recency bias. Some years there's a guy I'm really bummed the hawks didn't take (Byram, Demidov in recent years), but this season hawks get to make their choice out of a lot of guys that I like and I really feel the top 6 or 7 picks could all be very solid players.

Chicago teams in general make it hard to trust their drafting ability, but I don't think I'll leave the draft feeling let down this time. Watching you guys argue every day is fun though!

Watched almost the entire Moncton game last night. Desnoyer is my pick. Absolutely love the guy. I don't buy Q argument, especially at this stage in the year. The top teams in the Q are absolutely as good as anywhere else in the CHL.
He seems to be ascending at just the right time.
