Also never know who will emerge and how good they'll be...Schaefer was not the #1 pick a year ago and now people are basically saying he's the best defensive prospect since Dahlin

Nobody projected Makar to be a generational player, Draisaitl to be as good as he is, Pasta, Keith as you mentioned, even Rinzel for a more recent Hawks pick...I like the Hawks recent philosophy of just sticking to certain traits, having a short list of players that meet them and let the chips fall where they may...stack a lot of them in the system and play the numbersThis! We hear a lot that this is a weak draft and so on but what we don´t know how good some of these players eventually become. I remember when 2002 draft labeled as weak as they come but still Blackhawks managed to draft Duncan Keith from second round. Bob Pulford didn´t like that pick at all and called it one of the first in Hawks history according to Mike Smith.
As for Frondell his ppg is better than W.Nylander or Pasternak had in Allsvenskan at the same age. What if Desnoyers becomes next Nico Hischier? Of course we can´t be sure if he will become as good but we can´t say it´s impossible either.
Nah, I'll be doing one after all. Just first round though. 32 names or so on the board.I don’t know why Musto is so upset, he said he’s not even doing a prospect ranking this year because it’s not worth it.
I will say, I don’t see a lot of top end forwards in this draft, even at the very top of it. If someone said these guys would be middle sixers in their career, I’d believe them. But that’s still useful to this team. Like T2B said, you can’t control what’s in the draft, so just try to take the best player.
You should be moving up to 8-12 to draft Potter, not waiting around til 25What's the value in moving up to the 8-12 range for Eklund when you can take Cullen Potter at pick 25? Same profile and younger
Make it a top 34 to accommodate that 2nd round pick.Nah, I'll be doing one after all. Just first round though. 32 names or so on the board.
And yeah I don't know why people are outraged by my middle six projections for Frondell and Desnoyers. Industry scouts will tell you same thing. Those guys are not elite 1st liners.
so high? You should be moving up to 8-12 to draft Potter, not waiting around til 25
I am once again suggesting that we do a draft night meetup. I want to see drunk Musto have a meltdown in person![]()
Is Fiddy invited? I might consider flying over to play scrabble with the board peeps and him.I am once again suggesting that we do a draft night meetup. I want to see drunk Musto have a meltdown in person![]()
So, … you’re guessingThe team has been bottom-4 3 straight years. Itd be foolish not to assume anyknes job would be at risk if they had another bottom 4 finnish
I would, yeah.so high?
Who are the elite first rounders in this draft.Nah, I'll be doing one after all. Just first round though. 32 names or so on the board.

They don't really exist.Who are the elite first rounders in this draft.
They don't really exist.
Schaefer has game breaking upside, but he's been out of comission so long that we're all just guessing based on a small but top notch sample size.
After that, I don't know if anyone screams elite.
You can find elite attributes, but they come with flaws. Like Martone has elite IQ, but his skating is below NHL average.
And that's basically the story of this draft. "He's great at this, but..."
I would add Roger McQueen. A year like this, he would have been in contention for pick 1.They don't really exist.

There are better players than Frondell available. So why are you holding not being elite forward against Frondell if there are none!?
There are better players than Frondell available.
CBJAbsolutely.
Great package with that kid. Moves well at 6'5", plays center, has sick mitts. When he came back from injury, we really got to see his physical side too.
Then he got sidelined in the playoffs because he reaggravated his back, and now he's looking like a risky pick.
You take away the injury, and yeah there might be elite upside there. But who's gonna take the chance?
Have to imagine they won't be doing that again lol
