2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

Desnoyers and Frondell aren't even 100% centers.

Unless it's at 3C, their odds of sticking at center are the same if not worse than Bedard.

I feel like every scouting report I read compliments his high IQ, 200 foot game, puck protection, and his forechecking.

Why do you think he can't hack it as a 2C even?

Didn't a Swedish poster say it's normal for a guy of his age in that league to be playing wing?

It is normal for young Swedes in the pro leagues to play wing, even if they're centers.

With that said, Frondell struggles with playmaking. A lot of his passes don't get through, and they get picked off and it results giveaways. This has led to a reduction in ice time for Frondell. Whereas Eklund was given more responsibility, just as a direct comparison.

There might be some NHL teams where he's a 2C, but not Chicago. He would never outperform Bedard or Nazar.

Our 2nd firstcroubder (Leafs slot finished 4th best in the NJL = 20th pick pre-looto..

If none of WPG Washibgtom Vegas ond Toronto make it to their own Conference Finals it means 4 teams below the Leafs made it to Conference Finals and that woukd drop 4 spots to #25
.

SO THE RANGE of possibility for that Leafs pick is 25- 32...(#32 if Leafs win the Cup
.

I am not ure the 25th pick would be that moch better than #32...But you always want to draft in the best spot pisdible ...And IF Hawks try to package a deal to move up then obviously a deL of #25 +#34 is a better package than #32 and #34...the latter package probably only moves you up to mid 20s and the priobpackage deal could move you into the mid teens..

OR KD might choose quantity and just keep his first and early 2nd to draft 2 instead of just 1.

I am hoping we get 1 of Milton Gastrin Alexander Zharovsky or Cole Mckinney with our Leafs pick...butc1 ,2 or all 3 could be off the board depending on where that Leafs pick we own ends up..Ifcall gone by Leafs pick slot then move on to targets slated for #34..

For #34 ...different ways we could go:

. ADD sizey wingers 1of Vaclav Nestrasil, Danil Prokhorov,Bill Zonnon(can also play C)..but all could go late firstsnd not makev t to #34...

.Center with size Theo Stockellius (6'3 183) ...might have greater upside potential (#13 rated euroskater but might be under -rated ...probably will be there early 2nd ..

.Also slated to go early 2nd is huge 6'6 210lb dman Simon Xhoa Wang (Oshawa OHL...good skater for size...late birthdate...goid runway.. but raw ..no tsure if if will gone earlier ..but given size and skatibg could be another big shutdown D..we are dep in dmem but cannot keep overflow in Rockford forever.. eventually goita replenish the dman pipeline because eventually cannot keep all that we already have.

If not for skating Martone would be a lock for us. He's just too good at everything else. I don't dislike Desnoyers, but I see a huge talent level gap between the two. I think Porter's upside as a Corey Perry type winger is just too perfect for our personnel forecast.

Steven Ellis from Daily Faceoff said that Martone would be a perfect fit for Bedard. He thought that Martone´s play in U18´s was big reason for McKenna´s success there.

Danny is still fairly young. He may be perfectly content with 5 straight tank seasons if it leads to a decade of contention. Hawks still bring in pretty solid revenue even while terrible.
Eighth overall in the league, with a dropoff of only 1.3% from 23/24.

You have no clue what Davidson has given Wirtz as a timeline for the rebuild. And you have no clue what Wirtz thinks of the current direction of the rebuild.
All true but KD said when LuRich was fired that team didn't take steps they thought, maybe bottom 5-10 this season was the target?

If that target is sold for Wirtz then KD has to have reason why it wasn't reached.

My top 6 wish list for Hawks pick just for fun:

1. Misa
2. Schaefer
3. Frondell
4. Martone
5. Desnoyers
6. Hagens

That´s it atm and deal with it!

1.) Schaefer-LD

2.) Misa-C
3.) Martone-RW
4.) Hagens-C
5.) Frondell-C
6.)Desnoyers-C
7.) O'Brien-C
8.) J.Smith-LD
9.) Hensler-RD
10.) Carbonneau-RW

If McQueen wasn't a health risk he would be top 5. But with back injury and it flaring up 2x in one season I have him undraftable in top 10

if this is the case and there isn't a trade you have a lot of conviction in (like Demidov) then it just says that the teardown must continue...you can't control whats available in the draft
That's Mustos' opinion of the players that Powers says the Hawks are looking at, not a statement from Powers on what roles the Hawks are looking to fill.

It's typical Musto draft-time bull. He doesn't see the players Powers mentions as anything better than middle sixers.

If you're looking to Musto for credible takes on prospects, you're looking in the wrong place.
