2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

I don’t think his skating is as bad as some people make it out to be. He’s not strome. (Sorry Musto)

This is what I´ve read and heard too. And you can get better at skating and you can teach how to play off the puck but you can´t teach IQ anymore at that age. You either have it or not. And If you have high IQ you can compensate skating with that.

This season hasn´t been anything that I wanted but heading to the draft makes me comfortable. Hawks have good chance to pick a good one in the top 4. I don´t have anything that worries me about that. Hopefully they hit with the pick. Doesn´t matter who it will be.

100% agree. Plenty of guys with his profile don't pan out or likely won't be what they project. I remember some thought EJ Emery had more to give offensively since his athleticism, skating, etc were off the charts. I just don't think he thinks the game on that level, certainly not close to Schaefer in that regard or as gifted offensively.
It’s not like I’m saying it’s likely. I’m just saying I think of all the guys in this draft other than the obvious like Misa and Schaefer, I think his tool kit has the ability to be the best in the draft. EJ not even close to having the hands or the passing of Smith. Smith can dangle.

Think you gotta go Martone at 3 if we drop

Heard some interesting comparisons for him. Jason Robertson. Mark Stone

I wasn’t thrilled with him for Canada WJC but everyone looked like crap on that Dave Cameron tire fire

We badly need his size and skill combo

I guess there is a pick where the risk/reward makes sense, but back problems don't usually disappear
Yeah I would have had him as a legit possibility if the Hawks pick slides down to 3 or 4... now I wouldn't. Just keep it safe.

But if for some ridiculous reason teams are so scared that he's available with the Leafs pick (highly doubt it), you take the risk all day.

For what it is worth I think Misa has been better what numbers have suggested and has looked fine in playoffs. Martone has stepped up and played a heavy playoff type game that I like. He definitely has a mean streak to him the hawks could use. I think I would have Schaefer at 1 Misa at 2 and Martone at 3 and Hagens at 4 right now. Hagens I do think could have a better upside than Martone but you are getting a good NHL guy for sure with Martone

So I just ran Tankathom NHL Draft Simulator again(4th tome in countdown of last 10 games...now we are down to 7 games so this is thec4th of 10 attempts...once before each remaining game.

Results so far are 3 3rd place slots after the first 3 attempts running the sim

Today's 4th and Hawks landed 4th...

Hard to think the hockey godsxwill reward the Hawks with the #2 overall let alone the #1.
...
run it a million more times

Michael Misa who has had a horrible playoffs over the first 4 games of the series with Erie (Saginaw down 3 games to 1) is NOT in the Saginaw lineup tonight in Gane 5..he got a 1 game suspension during Game 4...

;As I pistvthis SGinaw leads the Game 3-2 with 14 minutes remaining whenI last looked..
MARTINmisial has 1 g1a to continue his surprising production for Erie inthis series.

Does anyone? They had an NHL-filled childhood, and a father who played the heavy and nasty power forward game, who also was a scorer. A lifetime of education for those boys.
Even more so than that, it’s something you’re born with. You see right from when someone is a young child, having that screw loose, getting their wires crossed. You simply cannot develop it if you didn’t have it all along.

I wouldn’t say it’s common, but there’s some guys out there who’d rather hurt someone than lose. Combine that with elite talent, and that’s a really special player.

as others have said we need a couple guys that have their wires cross at times, ideally from some of our better players that are getting more TOI than a fourth liner that might only play 8 minutes a night...just considering silver linings that might be there to choose between Hagens/Martone if they stick at 3

It is considered a very good and deep draft. Roobroeck or Belchetz would be excellents fits into our forward prospect group (if we can;t/don't end up with McKenna)

Yeah Belchetz especially I think would round out a lot for us. He's heavy, he's actually physical and still has skill.

Couple of weeks ago I almost made the 26 draft thread just because of this fact. I was clueless until then, just new that it was the McKenna draft, and everyone angling for him here, seemed almost like it's him or bust.

But there are a boatload of really good forward a next year. And a bunch of them are big and heavy. Belchetz, Katolicky, even Roobroeck although he's just bigger not mean, Fitzgerald.

Thes are all huge forwards, projecting at or near the top of the draft.

I think its very significant for us, because even if we end up with a lesser pick like around 5-10, it's still going to mean we can get a legit missing piece type guy in there.

Looking good, looking good.

Brady Martin is a very KD pick but will likely go between 10-18. Personally I hope Toronto loses in the first round again and we have a shot at Kindel. He still probably goes too early though you never know about a guy his size.

Regardless of who they take, I'd like to see us chase major upside more. We've got enough guys to fill out the middle 6 and bottom lines. We really need to be taking massive swings on forwards with upside. Guys who might flame out entirely.

Enough with the Cootes of the world.

Tgeceiteprosoecysc.com USHL scout who does a YouTube prospects show recently did one where he looked at who Hawks might draft...Apart from the usual consensus, Schaefer and Misa at #1and#2 he thought Jawksxwoukdvgo for size with Martinecat #3 but then said tge later Toronto firstcand their next pick in early round 2 hevthiught would be used to take big swings on potential but again with size ...he mentioned Nestrasil for the Toronto pick we havevu round 1 and possibly a Russian like Kurban Limatov ( 6'4 D) or Zharovsky ( 6'1 C) or Prokhorov (6'6 F)......some teans may also want these giysclate fors/early 2ndvto get ahead of waiting g too long drspitevrankings a bit later..

He mentioned a goalie target in round 3(the smallish but goid Ivankovivc or the smallish but goid rusdian goalie Andreanov.
