Hawks have a more difficult schedule the rest of the season than SJ. It will be a race to the bottom.
What This Means for You:
Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.
In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord ServerWe’ve also played two more games than them now. This is going to come down to the wire.Hawks have a more difficult schedule the rest of the season than SJ. It will be a race to the bottom.
It’s either regulation wins or regulation plus overtime wins. Hawks aren’t likely to catch SJS.If SJ and Chicago tie in points who ends up as the team dead last tiebreaker wise?
looking at this group...we have a bit to go still, which is fine as long as FO/ownership don't try to fast forward the rebuild too earlyXXX Misa Bedard

LW is notoriously weak (unless Lardis hits.. he's top 6 or bust).. I think signing Ehlers might be a good move as a stop-gap. Also a big body in the top 6 is needed...
Might have to explore moving Korchinski for a legit top 6 prospect as well if EDM takes the next step, and is a mainstay top 4 LD. Kaiser/Allan are perfectly suitable as a 3LD...
Any draft scenario for balance not involving Misa is unbalanced. Hawks have enough high ceiling Dmen already in Lev Vlasic and KK. There are too many questions on Bedards future as a center to make picking Schaefer the “team balance option”landing Schaefer this year and McKenna next year seems like it would be the dream from a team balance perspective but also not possible unless SJ went Misa 1st overall or whatever the rules need to be to make this happen
Full on "Sim to Draft" mentality for me too. This rebuild is very little fun.Side note part of me can’t wait for the season to end already and for the lottery to take place just so we can finally know where we pick this year (and potentially next year)
That would be by far the youngest team in the league. Most any AHL team also would be older. They would be abused for the most part.XXX Misa Bedard

Going to the game tomorrow with the wife for what is likely our last game for the season but still mentally just hoping the draft lottery comes soon.Full on "Sim to Draft" mentality for me too. This rebuild is very little fun.
Average age would be like 22-23 depending on the free agents would be something I’m unique for sureThat would be by far the youngest team in the league. Most any AHL team also would be older. They would be abused for the most part.

If my choice is no Misa or Schaefer but a chance for McKenna or coming away with one of MIsa/Schaefer and no chance for McKenna, I'll take the bird in hand of Misa or Schaefer and settle for a shot at Roobroeck or Belechetz in what at the moment appears to be a deeper draft at the top in '26.I love Vlasic, but calling him a "high ceiling" player and then saying Bedard has questions at center is a stretch. I can agree with the latter but not the formal. Vlasic will never have the offensive upside as Levshunov or Korchinski (or even Rinzel).
With that said, I agree with the unbalance argument. Hawks have enough defensive prospects. Now Schaefer is a talent you can not pass on and if that means trade a defenseman currently in the organization for forward help, you do that 10 times out of 10 but if you're picking 1, just pick Misa or if it's 2 and San Jose (or whoever jumps) picks Schaefer, then you pick Misa and can still can hope the lotto balls fall our way in 2026 for more forward help in McKenna.
It would take a really bad season for us to out tank the Sharks Pens and Bruins next year. Also runs into the question if we get Misa or Schaefer why are we still picking 1st the following year. It would have to be a catastrophic season injury wise to not make picking 1st in 2026 a failure as it means Knight, Bedard, Lev, Nazar, plus anyone else relevant did not take a step forward at all in developmentIf my choice is no Misa or Schaefer but a chance for McKenna or coming away with one of MIsa/Schaefer and no chance for McKenna, I'll take the bird in hand of Misa or Schaefer and settle for a shot at Roobroeck or Belechetz in what at the moment appears to be a deeper draft at the top in '26.
Maybe I don't understand the lotto rules, but don't we have a chance for McKenna/#1OA regardless of anything? If we finish dead last next season we can still "win" the lotto as we technically would not be moving up as we would be the worst team simply staying in our prelotto position of 1OA?
Misa or Schaefer likely do not play in the NHL next year. Schaefer will have just turned 18 at the start of the NHL, plays D, and missed most of this season any of which indivdually should be disqualifying but all 3 combined would be malpractice to rush him to the NHL. Misa even if he made a shitty Hawk roster is not moving the needle that young....a 40-50 point season would be "success". I don't see the Bruins or Pens going into a full on rebuild and way more likely they try a retool on the fly (Dubas isn't telling Sid, Malkin & Letang we are going for the McKenna draft pick boys). As bad as San Jose is...we are probably going into the last week of this season with a chance of them catching us and they have prospects/young players that are likely to improve year over year too.It would take a really bad season for us to out tank the Sharks Pens and Bruins next year. Boston just imploded their entire team besides Pasta Mac and Swayman this past deadline they are already bottom 7 despite originally being in a playoff spot for most of the season.Misa or Schaefer likely do not play in the NHL next year.
